I'm always conflicted on these "slams." Cool to showcase the resource(s) but the cynical part of me sees the pressure and increase in people as a negative to some of these great areas. I think it's a bad idea overall, but we'll see. Maybe it will be the opposite and folks will be good caretakers. Just hasn't been my experience.

Well if it's good enough for the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance it should be good enough for anyone LMAO.

Most of these places aren't that great and hopefully this can put more pressure on those stretches and leave the really good spots alone.

If you need an award to go fishing you need to sell your stuff and take up golfing.

Lol that's exactly how I feel. Why don't we just leave fishing as fishing?

Before MDC went online the public lakes around STL were good to great fishing.   Then the MDC put everything online and they declined quickly.   No matter what size and number limit they put on them the lakes all get reduced to being overrun with dinks.....  The occasional decent fish gets caught but not like pre internet.

Yep. I remember the days of Busch Wildlife being amazing. Now there's a dedicated FB group to fishing there. Just the times we live in. As always, though, the onus comes on the fishermen to keep the places good.

I fish because I enjoy catching fish, but also to experience more. Whether that is a new species or a new location for species that I have already caught before. Did I need the MDC or other state agencies giving out medals for these "slams", I would say no.  I have been doing these "slam" goals for many years. But it would not hurt to have a pin to put on my fishing cap. Just sayin' 😉😁

I would rather get a coffee cup or even a t-shirt.
