aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I spend about 200 days a year traveling and staying in hotels. Most small towns will give me a hospital rate for traveling medical workers. Well the place i have been staying at in Rolla is usually $99 for the last 5 years. Well today since its Homecoming here, the hospital rate is no good and im at $256 a night. Sucks i have to pay more for a homecoming that has nothing to do with me. And just in General Hotel rates have went up 30% in the last year all over the board.

I try to avoid those intersections if at all possible, but that doesn’t always work. At least my employer is the one taking the hit. Mike
MOPanfisher Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I stayed in Augusta GA once just before the Masters the rates for the next week that they posted were unbelievable. Supply and demand. MOFishwater 1
oneshot 1 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 If I know I will be somewhere in advance I go with Air Bnb. Most always have a nice place to sleep or House to stay in. Only time had any problem was the Hoist was staying in the House and somehow we misread thinking we had the house to ourselves. One time we went to a house that had been trashed. The Hoist made it right with another house close by. But we have traveled and most part houses have been great anywhere in the U.S. oneshot Terrierman and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Terrierman Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 We drove to Macinac Island in October 4 years ago. When we got into middle Michigan we thought it was time to stop for the night. It was homecoming weekend at Michigan State. There was not an available room anywhere within a 100 mile radius. And the upper part of mainland Michigan is not that densely populated. Hotels were few and far between, we wound up being about an hour from our destination when we finally found a place to stay. No reservations, which we just don't do on weekends at all anymore, no matter where we plan to stay.
Dutch Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 My daughter travels all over the U S and Canada for work. She has been talking about the increased cost of hotels for several months.
Members BLUEWATER Posted October 22, 2022 Members Posted October 22, 2022 How about when you make a reservation in a hotel for a car race 6 months in advance and the hotel call 3 months later and says the rate tripled so take it or leave it. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Carl1969 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Happens with AirBnB, too. We booked a place several months in advance for the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in '20. Guess the owner must've forgotten about the festival & came back at us a month later wanting twice as much money. Yeah, no. grizwilson and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
