Been that way for a long time. City finally made it by this morning with some sand, I finally got out, first time since early Monday. 2WD and a ten foot rise to start out keeps me home a day or two every winter. Already been four this year. Enough! I remember a few years ago where ARDOT got embarrassed by the pics of snow covered roads ending at the MO border where it was bare pavement. Main roads are all clear now, side road to my house at least got sanded this afternoon so I can get out and about. I hate this stuff, I am ready for spring! bfishn 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Just a little residual ice in the shaded areas from Sunday night's weather. Roads are fine. aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I noticed this year around Springfield they actually would run plows 3 wide down the highways and even saw a couple of the plows they tow behind the plow trucks. I dont think i ever have seen that this far south mainly when i was working in West Kansas and Nebraska. I think overall they got things cleared up way better than i ever remember before

Terrierman Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 It's still winter here. Monday was something. Slick sidewalk first thing when I went out for dogs and chickens. And then we got the promised sleet/rain/snow mix. Mostly sleet. Two inches of it when it was more or less finished, then it rained on it and got cold. Turned it into an absolute skating rink. The whole place was a white hazard to slip, fall, get a concussion and die alone in the yard while Lovey and the dogs had toast and tea. So, Tuesday was a 100% yaktrax day here. Then it snowed on it and walking got a lot easier. Wednesday morning I left the house early to take dogs to groomer and get us some breakfast. The rural roads hadn't had any successful treatment. Plows if they tried them failed. There was some chemical down but it was cold enough that it wasn't working. So it was 4WD time which overcame with really no problems. Anybody in a 2WD vehicle would have been stuck on every hill. Later on it melted some where chemical was down and by evening it was much easier out on the roads. But not much change at our place. And it's still that way today. I just got back from town and roads there are clear. Our secondary rural roads are mostly to completely still covered with packed sleet and snow. So is my driveway, yard and sidewalk. Still 4WD for the driveway and watch yourself when you're walking on this stuff - it's slick where it's packed and slushy to still hard underneath everywhere else. The silver lining is all that sleet has a lot more moisture than snow. It's melting slow and it's going to be good for soil moisture, spring recharge and helping base flow on our rivers, which still need help. fishinwrench Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nothing on the ground here, but the whole yard is a muddy quagmire. It was just barely warm enough to work today (Thanks, Groundhog) so luckily I'll be able to keep the lights on until our tax return hits the bank. The rest of the work that I have lined up I'm sure I won't get paid for until probably mid-March.....so needless to say I'm not gonna break my neck getting it done. Y'all are stuck with me for at least another month. 😁 BilletHead, nomolites and Terrierman 1 2

Walking the pooch, I got on the downhill side of a ditch and did a slow slide down to the bottom. But it is melting now, top layer is soft and no problem walking on it. Of course it will freeze again tonight. Might be able to get to a ramp this weekend and do some fishing I am thinking. Terrierman and bfishn 2
Dutch Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 Our driveway has melted a lot. It probably won’t be clear until tomorrow sometime. The warm gale winds should finish it off Saturday. I have to go to the farm Saturday so I’ll probably drive on over to Cape and see if it is clear because I want to go on Sunday if possible. Terrierman 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 2, 2023 Root Admin Posted February 2, 2023 We had 3 rounds of nothing but sleet. If I measured it I'd say 3.5 inches, may be 4. Freeze and refreeze makes it ice. Finally seeing some melting today. Going to take a while for this to melt, even with 40's and 50's ahead. We're tired of moving it. 4 days worth. I should have let it come down on Monday. That work was wasted. I took all the pre-salt off Monday. I'll take snow any day! FishnDave, Seth, bfishn and 1 other 4
awhuber Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Southern Dent and Northern Shannon county roads were bad today but should be much better tomorrow. The good thing is I was the only one in The OZARK-NSR. nomolites, bfishn and Terrierman 3
