I pretty much agree, and I personally don't want it in any of my boats......But I'll sho'nuff install it in yours👍 Competitors have to stay on the cutting edge of crap like this, or else they are gonna lose repeatedly to 22 year olds 90% of the time. I believe it will eventually kill the sport of competitive fishing for the majority of guys. Bass and Crappie tournaments will eventually become as rare as a Galaga game at an arcade. Once guys get a belly full of fishing like that then they'll sell those boats and take up bowling-golf-pickleball-ect. And if so, THAT result truly pleases me. So go right ahead and burn yourself out. The sooner the better.👍 There's one thing I've learned in the business that I'm in, that I think would really surprise alot of guys here.....And that is the number of guys that wouldn't fish at all if there wasn't a TOURNAMENT for them to participate in. DADAKOTA Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Just turn on the Hydrowave to counteract the FFS

I asked if he felt that it did any good, and he shrugs and says..."doesn't hurt". Constant draw on your cranking battery doesn't hurt? Ok 🤷♂️
DADAKOTA Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Lots of noises for fish to contend with. Graphs, TM, hydrowave, voices, music, outboards, and on and on. I think the FFS guys use the "fish are getting scared of it" line to minimize the tremendous fish catching impact FFS has. I've heard guys say I'd still catch them without FFS. They might, but there are a lot of fish they'd never known were there and never casted to that they caught with FFS. slabseeker, snagged in outlet 3, tjm and 3 others 6
fishinwrench Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 There's really no reason for tournament anglers to own a 60+k boat anymore. There's enough fish to win every event just right outside the bouys of the weigh-in area. You can access them just fine in a 14' Jon boat. Please Recycle ♻️ Terrierman 1

No surprise here, for sure a lot of guys would not fish or fish a lot less if it wasn't for tourneys. I don't see it changing anytime soon, now we've got high school and even pre-high school tourneys, a whole generation of tourney fishermen that have grown up tourney fishing. These kids that start out now, see the lakes as they are now and that's normal to them, they don't have memories of what fishing was like before it became saturated with tourneys. I have fun fishing without FFS. I can afford it, but as I think about it, I don't see having it making my fishing any more enjoyable. Watched a bit of the last Elite tourney on St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario. The pros are relying on it. One day record for a bag of smallies, just shy of 30 lbs. was set by a guy using FFS. Four guys had over 100 lbs. total for the 4 days. All of them were using FFS. bfishn and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

That's how I am with bass. I enjoy fishing the river bass tournaments, but I RARELY fun fish for them. There are several other species I'd rather chase if I am fun fishing. People act like using bow moutned sonar to target fish is something relatively new. People have been drop shotting on fish for a LONG time using 2D sonar. The difference now is instead of having to be on top of them you can see them out front and can throw at them. IMO, the biggest advantage of FFS is being able to visibly target the bigger fish verus just hoping the big one bites. I bought a Livescope setup last spring and used it for crappie and snagging paddlefish a few times. Snagging with it is almost unfair once you get it figured out. As for crappie, it really shines when fish are deep and/or in open water. A lot of my friends and family arent' able to dock shoot so I'm looking forward to being able to put them on some open water crappie that they can effectively fish for. FFS is a nice addition, but it's not even close to being as much of a game changer for me as going from 2D to SI was. I'd give up FFS in a heart beat if I had to choose between it and SI. SI finds the cover and fish while FFS just helps me make the perfect presentation. nomolites and snagged in outlet 3 2
