Lots of shake-ups in the "professional bass fishing" arena going on now.   Negativity from every angle.

I believe the industry is on the way down....and about to tank.  It's sinking hard and fast

Been heading that way for a long time. How's anything gonna last if you spend $100,000 for a boat, another $100K for a truck to pull it, and fish for $10,000 MAX in the average regional tournament? Meaning the winner goes home with $10,000 and second place won't usually pay even half of that. Say you have a field of 100 boats ... that means only 2% make their expenses back after spending $1,500 minimum on traveling gas, boat gas and oil, incidental lure/tackle purchases, food and lodging.

You'd have to WIN 20 of those $10K tournaments to even pay for your truck and boat.

Talking about the regional level here. And the higher levels don't vary a lot. Still a very low percentage of guys even making back their expenses.

I don't see it, I agree it's a gamble that quite a few of them lose, but there is no shortage of people fishing the Opens and whatever the MLF qualifier is.  BASS college series openings filled up in record time this year.

It’s exciting. You get to wear a uniform and play with very fast expensive toys. What young man or woman  wouldn’t want to do that

There is also the video game aspect that is now so much involved, adding more fuel to the fire.

Let’s forget about the money y’all are so concerned about.   It’s not a problem.

Parents and Grandparents have money. Lots of money. Letting the kids or grandkids play with a 1/4 to 1/2 million is not worrying these folks.   We live in a different world.

Couple  that bought our lodge and 40 acres have 10 plus million in it now. The are only 50 years old and have 9 kids. Gave the lodge to the 3 youngest girls. No biggie.

There are lots and lots and lots of those folks running around.

Go to Florida, Texas and even Lake O. and look around. Money is not a part of the equation.

I wonder how that development over by the KC bridge is going, the one on top of that red dirt hill.  Gotta be some bucks involved there too.

And therein lies the reason we have so many "adults" out there who just don't get how things work in the real world of blood, sweat and tears. They've never had to figure out how to make things work with $2000 a month in income and $2500 in bills. The older generation immediately begins thinking, "I better get a part-time job for awhile." The younger generation just falls back on their entitled backsides and pressures family or friends to "be kind" and give them a hand. Not a blanket truth, but widespread enough to be a real societal problem in the works.

Luckily my two girls dont fall into that generalization. They both went to college, worked as RAs in the dorm. Left college pretty much debt free. Both make more money than I ever dreamed about. They also volunteer at food banks.

Hell, mine actually bought my house and business property from me, and now I have to pay RENT to her.    It was some kind of shrewd business move brainstorm that I quit trying to understand, so I just go along with it. 🤔

Not a biggie now to miss your rent payments. I mean what is she going to do kick her elderly dad out?

Well we now have legal pot available for them to cope and stay stoned and happy in their safe space.

I could list multiple reasons why this is happening but the thread would get shut down in 2 seconds.
