Mitch f Posted January 16 Posted January 16 My all time favorite engineer story in my 40 years in aerospace metrology was when they had problems with a Pratt Whitney jet engine. They had it suspended up on a dolly for a check out. For about 3 months they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it and tried every test known to man. They were super frustrated and scratching their heads. There were about 15 engineers standing there and the oldest guy who was around 65-70 years old just grabbed the engine with both hands and started violently shaking it. Everyone looked at him like he was crazy. During the shaking we started to hear systematic rattling. They zoned in on the sound and quickly found out that one of the pieces was not pinned in place and was loose. After all that time it only took 30 seconds to figure it out. The old guy just turned and walked away. Kind of like a mic drop moment. many lessons learned. Seth, Daryk Campbell Sr and fishinwrench 3 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Guess we should go back to how most of us started. At least I did by sitting on the front seat of a tiny flatbottom boat. By myself with the back end up in the air. Had a small paddle that never came out of the water as I swept it back and forth sculling from tree stump to tree stump dipping for crappie. Much quieter than any trolling motor. Ahh the good old days. Had as much fun as I do now but sure not as confrontable. I learned that technique as a young teen south of Hardin, Il on Otter Creek. An ole timer taught me how to do that while I spent a couple of weeks at Grandma's stilt cabin in the summer. BB guns and fish, I was in heaven. When I was a little Scout there was a shortage of "Scout Leaders" when we advanced into Webelos. My dad RELUCTANTLY agreed to be a Webelo leader......and was the greatest Scout leader of all time. Our troop learned gun safety and marksmanship, shooting both shotguns and rifles, setting trotlines and limb lines, and SCULLING was on the list of things he insisted every member of our troop was proficient at. I don't think he ever got thanked properly for stepping up like he did.....even though he didn't want to. Kids were different then, and so were parents. I got asked to be a scout leader when I was in my 40's and after assisting/instructing a group to get their Flyfishing badges I freakin' bailed on that deal ! Sorry Dad, but kids and parents are WAY DIFFERENT now. 😔 Daryk Campbell Sr and snagged in outlet 3 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 My dad was an accountant and couldn’t fix anything. His SOP was hit or bang it around and then spray wd40 on it. If that didn’t work ask the old German guy across the street to fix it for a bottle of booze. 60% of the time, it worked every time😂 Daryk Campbell Sr, grizwilson, TRRANGER and 2 others 1 4

The part that should really alarm everyone is the amount of building that is going on in City Utilities area. If they can't provide enough now when it get's a little cold, how are they going to provide for all the new homes and businesses? I'm pretty sure those will use more energy than any new EV purchases. snagged in outlet 3 and TRRANGER 2

Cooling uses more power too don’t you think?
