The winner, Trey McKinney, all of 19 years old, had 130 lbs. over 4 days.  These weren't deep fish they were scoping, mainly fish around trees in 10-15 FOW.  A lot were caught on jerkbaits.

I have no plans to get FFS, having fun fishing the way I do.  And that is what it is all about for me.

I watched quite a bit of it.    Some were scoping lass than 10’.   The live coverage Friday online had pros breaking down the settings on some of the guys and they were fishing 4-5 feet deep.

There were 2 things about that Lake Fork tournament that made my eyes roll back in my head. 

#1. B.A.S.S. didn't even have enough "Century Belts", so they all had to share the same one so they could have their pictures taken with it. 🙄

#2. A kid broke off a 5lber, followed it around for 20 minutes, then caught it AGAIN and got his jerkbait back. 😳

I dont understand why the older crowd thinks they have a disadvantage to the younger guys. ITs been out for 6 years. Everyone has had the same amount of time to learn it especially the pros that have had easy access to it and get to fish twice as much as the college kids that are whipping them.

This is true, and a really good point.  🤔 

I'd say that the older guys just assumed that the experience that they had acquired over the years actually MEANT SOMETHING.....so they didn't take it seriously.     

One thing is for sure..... Nothing has ever upset the fishing world as much as FFS has, and there's gonna be a war.....So pick a side!

I  mean that kid that caught that one that he followed around with his bait in its mouth was probably 13 when it came out and i doubt he was using it then.  But all the Garmin pros had access to it just chose not to practice with it enough and now they are mad.

With all honesty the settings are easier to use on LS than an Iphone, the hard part is following your bait with little adjustments but that just takes time to figure out.

The competition will be soooooo tough with the new livescope guys. I don’t think there will ever be a a guy who is on top for long.

I have a couple of son in laws that are into gaming. They both have successful careers but they still play online regularly and are very good at it. I am not. I bought the nice Xbox. I’ve tried to do what they do. And I used to be a gamer back in college. But the younger guys have grown up with technology. They are better at it. That’s one thing I noticed while watching the Fork coverage. All of them were young. But it did not surprise me at all.

I'm taking my kiddo to a HS tournament at TR in May.  They'll have approximately 200 boats.  I'll be in lil' 2001 Lowe 170 putting along with a 70hp, being out-classed and out-cast, and living the dream (doing the same this weekend on BS and never even bass fished that lake before).  We're fixing to get whooped, but it'll be fun!

Its just so hard for me to wrap my head around how playing Mario or Halo with a handheld control translates at all into dialing in your live scope and judging distances with your casts to specific fish

As an exercise just forget catching a fish. Go into open water and concentrate on keeping your bait on the screen.   Within a day you'll have a handle on it.  

Then go practice on some crappie, White bass, or something that's aggressive and plentiful.  

I have played with it just enough to know that I could get good at it IF I WANTED TO..... but after some serious thought I  simply decided that I do NOT want that in my life.   And I'd be willing to bet that there isn't one guy that is doing it today....that will still be as excited to go fishing 10 years from now.    It's going to ruin them all.
