Had a great time as usual.  Special group of people!  Fished with Ham Friday afternoon and Saturday.  We got a late start yesterday because someone went to the wrong access - Wildcat instead of White Hole.  I hate when that happens - but when you don't google and go on your memory that's what happens :)   I fished pretty much the same thing both days - 1/16th or 1/25th oz sculpin or a black/sculpin jig with 2 pound line.  Ham said we caught over 100 each day.  He has the clicker so I'll go with his numbers.  I had 4 cutts and 2 smallies, rest rainbows.  Fished Rim Friday, White Friday first half and Buffalo the last few hours of Saturday.  Buffalo was the best - best bite and bigger fish.  I had one brown at Buffalo and the 2 smallies.

There's plenty of fish in the river, that's for sure.  We fished anywhere where there was current - faster the better.   Head of shoals, in the shoals, tail out, behind any rocks and wood - there was a fish or two.  I just wonder how this situation is going to help the fishery - I think it will grow bigger fish.  Less fish, more food.  Ark needs to figure out how to help those trout not get caught and let them grow.  They need a better food base and protection from the meat eaters.  And like Ham said, protection from the chummers-bait/catch-and-release guides.  This will, though, hurt businesses on the river.  I talked to Miles and he said they took a hit, and he's worried about 2026.

Can’t say enough how much fun I had at jigfest 13. After missing it a couple years it was good to get back and see new faces as well as some of the fellow OG’s. What a great group of people, from different walks of life but with one thing in common, the love for fishing and fellowship!   Got a kick out of seeing Marty again afree 10 years or so  and meeting his wife Pat, talk about two peas in a pod!
Day one I fished with Jeff and daryks son Lucas, we fished at Rim and caught probably 50 to 60 in the boat.  Only one brown.  Jeff caught the most he was dialed in swimming his jig instead of popping it.  Once we did that to mine and Lucas catch went up.  Day 2 I fished with Mike (wounded one) and we went to Buffalo city.  The trout there were hungrier and healthier.   After a little advice from Rick on where they were staged we commenced a 2 hour beat down as Ham calls it on some nice trout.  Sure enjoyed sharing my boat with some great folks.
The food was fabulous as usual and thanks daryk for the cigar around the campfire friday night.  Miles came over and picked and sang some county songs what a great time.    Here are some pics and videos of the trip.  Looking forward to next time already!

    Great pictures Brett!

Especially the one of Pat and I. Good things happen when your wife asks you to pick her some mistletoe low enough to reach from the boat. 😊 Pretty dicy with her on the boat motor which I balance myself on the front deck reaching up.

My report is a little different.   My primary focus after food and fellowship was to test and tune my boat, which I've named Patriot.  I bought it to flip and make a few dollars.   Well, I decided to keep it, and my kids and I gutted it, sanded it down, painted and reworked it to its current glory.  Each star was placed by hand.   Most have followed the Frankenstein motor rebuild/swap.   Well this weekend inwas successful in getting it to plane out for the first time.  I'll save the extended details but friends met here are so valuable.    I've gotten advice from @fishinwrench both directly and indirectly,  Cody @gotmuddy has taken video chats a few times and helped me through more than he even realizes.  Rob went to multiple stores and talked to alot of people to find a hydrofoil as a last resort to get my motor working correctly.   Well, I was very pleased with the performance of the boat and motor while at Jigfest.   I asked Cody if I could borrow a couple spider chairs, he went above and beyond and found me a couple seat frames to match a couple seats I already had.   We ate tremendously good food, had more laughs than I can try to explain, and the camaraderie gives me a feeling that just warms the soul.  I did catch fish, more than I truly expected.

I got to bring my 19 year old son to something that he has heard so many good stories about.   He got to experience an amazing gathering with some of the best people I know.

Here come the pictures...20251212_125825.jpg

Blasphemy @gotmuddy! Say it ain't so!

Missed you all. Hopefully I'm healed enough for Taneyfest so I can see most of you then. Looked like a blast as always.
