I do like PBJ but haven't fished a Ned in two years maybe(?).
-
Definitely sounds like satifying fishing under crappy conditions. Congrats to @Ham and @FishnDave for the great trip report and to your success. Maybe I can convince you guys to head out this way for shad and white catfish.

That's good to know Mitch😆
-
Congrats Daryk on your first fly caught trout! That's a nice male rainbow!
-
Thanks Phil for putting this on. Even though I wasn't there again, I can relive memories from past events and know exactly how things went. These events were always a great time and had lots of great food.

Thanks Daryk for posting. As much as I miss fishing with you guys at these events, I think that I miss cooking with @Terrierman and @grizwilson just as much!

They are in the cod family. Here is a cusk that I caught up in New Hampshire last summer and a ling (red hake) from New Jersey both are related to the burbot. -

Not Yet. There are some guides in Minn and other Northern tier states that ice fish for burbot when they go into the shallower waters to spawn. I believe that its Walker Minn that has an Eel Pout festival in the winter Jan/Feb? Seems like a Sturgis bike rally meets drunk ice-fishing event😉 -

They are basically the freshwater version of the ling, aka. hake. -
I have been looking at possible ice fishing guide trips out in Utah for March. A little too expensive for just going myself but would be fun if I had the family with me. One trip you go into the lake area using an Arctic cat and would be fishing for cutthroats.

Awesome catches Pete! Nice photos too😉 -
Many may have never heard her sing but this is one of my favorite covers of a classic song. RIP. Melanie.

I do try to target specifics that I know are mostly locally available. Takes me more time to figure out how to try and make these successful. I did collect Coins😉

Finally put together my targets for 2024 Catch a Ribbonfish - 2023 carryover will target VA areas Catch a Skipjack / Sauger - have spots in WV and IN/KY/OH that are within 6 hours from home that I will target in late spring. Catch a Lifer Bullhead / madtom - snail or spotted / tadpole - Have spots nearby to continue to try for tadpole MT Catch a lifer Skate / Ray / Shark - I am considering taking Sue, Livie and BIL on a charter out of DE for sand tiger and sandbar sharks also fishing for cownose rays locally 2 Swamp Lifers - e.g., banded sunfish, blackbanded SF, swamp darter, etc. - I have spots in NJ for banded SF and weatherfish and MD spots for swamp and glassy darters 3 Darters; 1 from MD (Rainbow) and 2 Lifers -I will get a rainbow this year in MD, also have spots for another logperch species and banded darters plus the swamp and glassy darter spots 4 Lifer minnows - mimic shiner, silverjaw, spotfin killifish, etc. - I have lots of spots for a variety of minnow species in MD, VA, NJ, DE, FL including mimic shiners in a spot where rainbow darters are found. 19 Lifers total for the year - this is pretty aggressive but we have a S FL trip planned that should result in a fair number of lifers barring poor weather. I have a business trip in Utah in March (may not be able to fish if creeks are high due to runoff), two business trips to Texas in Oct and Nov and either a business trip to SD or CA. I will plan on a day or two around these trips to catch some new species.

We had ferrets in college. Kind of fun at times though even when washed regularly they still had an odor about them. One time we had a partially deflated mylar helium balloon next to the sofa. The male ferret would hop up onto the sofa and then jump onto the balloon. He would bounce off the balloon and then bark around on the carpet. then repeated until he couldn't reach the balloon any longer. (when agitated/excited they would hunch up their back, hop around while barking). He also loved to stick his face into the clear plastic cups if one was on the floor. Then scuttle around the room pushing the cup with his face. This was hours of entertainment for all of us 😆. The female ferret was much more reserved than the male. One thing that she enjoyed is licking peoples hands in the meaty part between your thumb and index finger. It was like the tootsie pop owl. She would lick that spot three times and then bite 😉. We would warn folks but most of them were likely drunk at the time and just didn't pay attention until she gave them a nip.

Need photos for those living vicariously 😉 -
I had a buddy that when he was at college would live trap squirrels and drown them in a trash can before cleaning and eating them.

I've caught N rock bass in the Niangua as well as a river that feeds into the Missouri. Shadow bass from the Current and Ozark bass from around Ozark MO. I still need to catch a Roanoke bass😉
-
I saw this article but hesitated to post since it is from here in Maryland. He is long arming the photo but it's still a big rock bass.

Wonder of Wildlife

We have gone to WOW a couple of times. The first time is when they just opened it the first time. Then we went after they finished the remodel and opened it again recently. I was impressed. We go to a lot of aquaria around the country and I rate this one in the top ten.
