  1. During a tourney a couple weeks back I caught a short on the whopper plopper. Ended up with one point of the tail hook buried in my right index finger from the top corner of the nail to where the hook point was barely out the bottom of the finger. Partner had to cut the O-ring from the bait after removing the fish. Fished the last 25 minutes of the tourney with the hook in my finger. Got home and put the boat away. Made an ice/salt/water brine and chilled the finger good, pushed the barb on through, cut it off, rechilled, and backed the rest on out. No worse for wear.
  2. Hey Mitch - What brand of boat is that?
  3. Folks seem to be super thin skinned these days. Can't make a joke. Can't kid around. Whatever happened to the "Sticks and stones..." So many folks only know how to tap on a keyboard and don't converse anymore. When standing next to someone and actually talking it is far easier to understand what someone means. If one or the other takes offense then it can be settled immediately. Folks just need to lighten up and laugh a bit. And for the fishing news local lake running 81 to 83 degrees with water slightly stained.😁
  4. Sounds like way too much fun Al.
  5. Anyone that takes a boat, motor, or trailer to Blue Springs Marine should have their head examined. Way overpriced and the service is horrible. I make the drive to Gravois Mills and have Wrench deal with the problem, if he hasn't already told me how to fix it on my own. Some repairs are above my abilities.
  6. It amazes me how often they step on rods, kick them out of the way, throw them down to unhook fish, etc. A lot of those guys are very tough on rods.
  7. Wheeler is definitely the best at extracting fish with his forward facing sonar (FFS). IMO he would not be nearly as dominant without the FFS. Don't get me wrong he is a heck of a stick. Just not nearly as dominant without it.
  8. I have no ads while on OAF, but I run AdBlocker.
  9. Wow. Biggest buck I have seen around the lake.
  10. Bunch of swish stick elitists not wanting to share. Anyone figured out how to use livescope on trophy trout?
  11. Good deal Phil. Best to have one on and not need it than need it and not have one on. Way too many people think they can swim a long distance yet they never go swimming. Many drownings could be prevented if folks just wore a PFD.
  12. I just wish I had a shop to store a big boat. Then I'd buy one.
  13. So what make and model did you recommend to the original question?
  14. "I was told". With the advent of social media lots of unsupported comments get passed on as fact. A ROW is typically granted by a landowner for a specific use. Providing public access is typically not one of them. As such the landowner can choose to allow the public access or not. The way most people treat public accesses by leaving trash, tearing up the property, dumping, vandalism, etc. I can completely understand why landowners close the access points. The State would be better off buying the property to allow for public access.

    What's Cooking?

A few finishing nails across the end where the trap hits will assist in keeping a good hold on larger vermin.
  16. Can't you go in and close the accounts and take the check to Schwab?
  17. Wrench will trick it out so Sugarbritches will want to cut the grass. I'm thinking a nice Pepto-Bismol pink paint, sound system, etc.

Did you have to blanche the corn prior to vac packing and sealing? Would love access to a sweet corn field.
  19. Sounds like an awesome adventure.
  20. Prayers for his family and friends during this tough time. May he RIP.
  21. I put Cajun Red on as the backing and then about 60 yards of braid. When you start seeing the red you know you are getting close to a re-spool with the braid.
  22. You need some mousers wrench. Got to keep the mice out of the boats. Guess that might cut down on work to do though. 😀
  23. Hadn't heard Yogi was in Camdenton. Betting Boo Boo is on his way.
  24. Saw this on Bass Blaster and thought Wrench might want to read it. Link to study https://cdnsciencepub.com/doi/abs/10.1139/cjfas-2020-0442 Quote of the Day "Our results reveal both non-tournament and tournament angling mortality are low compared to natural mortality in some lakes." - Dang straight! From an IA (I think?) study: > Average total annual mortality was 0.66 with natural mortality representing the largest mortality source (0.57) followed by delayed tournament mortality (0.06), non-tournament angling mortality (0.02), and initial tournament mortality (0.006). > Our results reveal both non-tournament and tournament angling mortality are low compared to natural mortality in some lakes. Therefore, cumulative angling mortality likely has minimal population level effects on some bass populations.
  25. My Dad used to take us up to the UP every year when school got out. For years we fished brookies in the Fence river and its tributaries around Republic, MI. Also used to go into a small lake known as Just lake. Caught a 26 inch brookie out of there. Then we went around Gladstone and Rapid River area and fished the primarily the East Branch of the Whitefish. Also caught a bunch of walleye out of Little Bay De Noc.
