Ham Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I drove out of state to stay and fish with a guy. Day 1 he's texting and driving. I tell him that's a terrible idea, but he said " I do it all the time, no big deal". I drove everywhere else we went the rest of the trip. dtrs5kprs, ness, Champ188 and 2 others 5 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members Brandon Knight Posted June 8, 2015 Members Posted June 8, 2015 Glad to hear he missed you! I really don't get it. Why is it so hard to put your phone down for your 10-15 minute travels? My job requires me to drive in Springfield for 10 hours a day. You wouldn't believe the number of people I see texting and driving. Not just young people either, I see people old enough to be my grandparents doing it as well. Pretty sad I feel more responsible than a lot of my elders. Don't get me wrong, I check my phone because my boss is constantly giving me new pick-ups/deliveries, but I always wait till i'm stopped at a light or at my next destination and it's a quick "ok" when i text back. Hell it's almost every day I avoid a collision with a texting driver, no joke. Not to mention a few times a day honking at a driver who is staring at their phone at a green light. I actually make a game out of it sometimes, guessing what cars are on their phones as they pass/i pass them, or guess how many people are on their phones in the line as they turn left. I could continue about the people who are in such a hurry to get to the mall to buy whatever it is they are buying who will run you off the road wile your just trying to do your job but this post is about texting and driving so i'll leave it there haha. GNSfishing Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I think I have an answer to the driving and texting problem and I doubt it would not cost very much to do with all of the electronics in the vehicles now days. It could be an add on device as well. Setup a grid inside the vehicle to jam any and all wireless phone frequencies making the devices useless unless the key/power switch to operate said vehicle was off. These laws against texting and or distracted driving just does not work, besides our law enforcement has better things to do than set around and try to catch someone texting and driving. You know if it was just the violator that paid the price it would be a different story but it's not always the case. People are stupid at times and that causes accidents.. Everyone has their moments..... :-)
Pour Dennis Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 If I see someone talking on their phone or texting, I lay on the horn. Is it that important to be talking on the phone or texting. Just pull over or wait until you get to where you are going.
Flysmallie Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 A couple of weeks ago I saw a guy down the street from me driving his Tahoe way too fast down our street and he was texting. Or maybe he was just dialing a number but either way he wasn't looking where he was going. This guy is also my insurance agent. I see a discount coming. Â Â
buddygr53 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I agree, but when you see a highway patrol using a computer to check tags while driving he is no better than people texting Flysmallie 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Yeah I was a little jackass too. The difference is that I was out in the country being stupid instead of ripping around in the crowded cities. Oh....and we didn't have cell phones or Facebook statuses that had to be monitored every 5 minutes. WAS??? Just sayin. Pete
fishinwrench Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I agree, but when you see a highway patrol using a computer to check tags while driving he is no better than people texting Yeah he is. Cuz if he crashes into you it will be YOUR fault. And they'll start a fund raiser for HIS family. sandbc and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
96 CHAMP Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Society has it these days that no one cares about the other guy on the road or in a boat, there is no consideration for the other person and everyone is in a big hurry, not everyone is in this category but I believe the majority are caught up in this senario & most may not even realize it, it is more the norm than not any more, I feel sorry for the elderly, Champ188 and Fish24/7 2
