MLF - Ned rig

Watched Major League Fishing yesterday, Mark Rose jumped out to a huge lead, Kevin Short was quite a ways behind and he broke out........The Ned rig!  He cut the Strike King version of the Z-man bait.  He did well with it, quite a few smallies in the 2-3 lb. range, but he just could not catch Rose and came up "short" (I had to say it).  I thought he fished it a bit fast, but then again it worked for him.

I didnt watch that one yet.  I often wonder how many guys that fish for a living really use it.  I know they plug sponsor baits on every show their on, and at every stage they weigh in at, but why hasnt Z-Man or other Ned bait making companies sponsored one of the big guys yet?  

 I will keep my eye out for that portion of the show quill.

I saw it too.  In past shows I've noticed the fisherman will unhook a fish and quickly throw the lure out of camera view. Almost all of those looked like Ned's to me.  I think it's used more than they want people to know  They even referred to it as the turd yesterday

You'd think Z-man would have a couple of those guys sponsored, but I haven't seen it.  I was watching the Fox Southwest fishing report show a couple of weeks ago, and the host was fishing TR, they fished the "Ned rig" but used that Gene Larew Ned bait, I forget what it is called, I believe it is Inch Worm.  They caught fish on it. 

Randy Howell was doing some shameless plugging of his sponsors gear in the lastest MLF.  It was bad.  He stuck to his sponsors baits a little too long and it cost him.

At the FLW on Beaver Scott Canterberry fished the Ned some today and caught a 2 pounder.

R. Howell needs his own reality show so he can get out of fishing.  I'm totally burnt out on his "look how cute me and my wife are" thing.   

Swindell too, his crap was cute for about a minute....now it's embarrassing. Fish Fishburn tried it, it didn't work, so just fish or cut bait.

Nixon, Clunn, KVD, and the other genuinely good sticks never had to motorboat their wives and families in order to be noticed.  

Get that crap out of the pro fishing scene because it's vomit worthy.

Wrench, don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel. A few years ago when they came up with that tricked out boat stuff with the young guns I thought I wanted to see them fishing not tricking out boats and trucks. But I guess someone liked it for a season.
