Id prefer there be less fisherman....so let the kids video game it up in the comfort of their own house where i am not trying to fish.  Im always annoyed when someone is on my spot.

see its Aholes like you that try to act or sound like u own certain areas of public waters, that make water sports undesirable. To me your attitude is no better than a jet skier making wake or bigger boats bothering fishermen

I'd say there is a good percentage here that feel the same way, they just prefer to appear differently so they'll never say it out loud.   I'm not afraid to agree with him (to a degree).    There are a few kids that I'd like to see enjoy fishing, but there are way more that I'd personally prefer to not ever see at all because they've never been taught any of the following traits...

Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Everyone has been programmed to only say that "children are a wonderful gift and we cherish them all equally".  Nobody can openly admit that they know kids whose mere presence makes them cringe.   Nobody wants to invite the Nellie Olson's and Scott Farcas's on a fishing trip, but they SAY they do because they think they have to.

IMO the very first word in that list of desirable traits gets thrown right out the window as soon as you start pretending to feel differently than you truly do.

I'm just glad I brought my kids up enjoying the outdoors.  Took them all camping and fishing at an early age.  Not all of them enjoy it any more, but I GOT them outside!  I feel like in that regard I accomplished something as a parent.

"you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post"

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

I took it that way also.

Even if you don't want more people fishing, I think we can all agree we need more people protecting our resources.  IMO the best way to do that is help them see the value in the outdoors.  So...my question is, who's going to do it if our kids don't?  Children today have so much potential and the ability to reach way more people than I did growing up because of technology.  They will be influenced by someone...I just want to try to have an impact on the decisions they ultimately make.

Id also prefer less jetskiers, wake boats, and people in general.

And, maybe, people that can't take a joke?

I think another factor to be considered is that today's youth are so used to instant response from the multitude of devices , cheats to win games they just bought available at the flick of a finger on line, new lives or redo's in games  that they just don't realize that real life doesn't work that way .  They never developed that sense of patience I did assisted by an older relatives boot up my posterior when us kids got too antsy .

Too many are in for a rude awaking when they finally leave the nest and come face to face with life's realities , you ain't the other guys top priority in most cases , there are long lines at the DMV and you are just another number to most if not all government agencies .

what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

All the kids I know today are intelligent, well-adjusted, and overall good kids. Some like to fish, some don't. I'm not worried about a one of them.

I can't dance like I used to.

Amen, I have a lot of faith in much of today's youth.  Even though they may NE be user/conumerous of resources that we are they will be the ones who will save and improve what we leave behind.  My son was never interested, said fishing was boring, doesn't mean he might not take it up later in life.  BTW I have seen him sit with a dying cat for several hours until it finally passed, he just didn't want it to be alone.  I believe character like that will shine through regardless if he wants to fish or not.
