I have always bought fairly cheap sunglasses to fish. This year i broke down and bought some 40 dollar SK sunglasses. They have developed a film over them. I break, drop, drown, fly off sunglasses. But now i am ready to buck up and get a quality pair. I've been told as much as i fish now i need a quality pair. Hence, i write to you boys. Any advice on a good pair of sunglasses in the 100 dollar range would be appreciated. I have found excellent advice on here in regards to long underwear. a jerkbait rod, spin reel etc. 

ps I never knew Bill Beck. But it sounds like he was one quality individual.

A lot of guys like Solar Bat.  I only wear Costa del Mar when I fish.  The lenses are unreal they're so clear.  I also have a prescription pair of Oakleys that are just kind of ok and I spent more than a car payment on those.  The other one that I've heard good things about has been Wiley-X and I think they can be purchased at Wal Mart in the eye clinic for under $100.  Don't be afraid to look on Ebay for Costas.  Just watch who you're buying from to make sure they're real.

I was in the same "boat" as you earlier this year.  I finally made the jump, after research I bought some Costa's with the 580P Green lenses.  Easily one of the best buying decisions I've made as far as fishing equipment goes.  They are simply awesome and I couldn't be any happier!

Costas are nice and super clear, likely your best bet.  If not them then take a look at Maui Jims.  They have great polarization and optics too.  

I luckily have a buddy who owns an eye doc business.  He was able to cut me some custom polarized lenses in green all the way down to the tint selection and percentages for my Oakleys which are leaps and bounds over the stock Oakley stuff.  If you have an eye Doc or need a prescription set they can usually cut for frames. 

I have been an Oakley fan for decades, but sadly they are not the same company they once were after they were bought out.

Good Polarized lenses on the water are a game changer for sure.

I've had several "quality" pairs, and I guess it's just my eyes but I can't tell a difference between the expensive ones and the middle of the road (more affordable) ones.  

Anything under 20.00 is obviously junk though..... except for this pair of Ozark Trails I have on the dash of my truck that seem to be just as good as my most expensive pair of Smith's.

Don't be afraid to get the polycarbonate lenses in Costa's either. Glass lenses are nice but even the cheaper Costa's are well worth the price. A site called steep and cheap https://www.steepandcheap.com/rc/sunglasses-on-sale usually has Costa's at a good price. I'm a big fan of copper or copper-based lenses for all around fishing. In Solar Bats,  Mossback is the lens you want. Either of those really make the fish pop.

I have Costa's, Maui Jim's (brand new release) and the new shallow water Oakely's. My personal favorite is the shallow water Oakley's. I used them all last week while being humbled on the Rock. Anyway, I was able to see better through the water with Oakley's. Steep and cheap has the best prices on every brand they carry. They are all too expensive! Take care, Chris.

Costa for several years now.  On my 3rd pair b/c I keep dropping them in the water.  My cousin likes his wileyx and they are certified safety glasses b/c of the collision/impact resistance.  Your employer might pay for or help with these since they are work safety related.  Others in my family like them bc they ride motorcycles and need the eye protection also

Costa or MJ, sadly good lenses are not cheap.  Have both but my scrip pair with "Maui Brilliant" lenses are unbeatable - had a hard time coughing up the dough for them but no regrets.  I have not had good luck or longevity with more affordable options.
