Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 12, 2017 Root Admin Posted September 12, 2017 He caught it on a small jig Brett's ties called a Baitfish I believe. Jimmy (son in law) followed Brett up to Lookout where they took pictures and released it, but it didn't make it. It's extremely hard to release a big brown like that even under the best circumstances but our water is low in O2 and it just couldn't catch it breath I guess. Another year and that fish would have been a state record.... but there's more out there. Daryk Campbell Sr, snagged in outlet 3, crazy4fishin and 3 others 6
JestersHK Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Thanks Phil for the info. I had one that took me a good 10 minutes for him to get back to normal. He was a good fighter and I had to take my time more than usual with the fly rod... Overall this past weekend fish fought hard though, I mainly just took pics in the net, and keep them in the water, minus the one my buddy caught that we measured. That one was a beast though and took off like a rocket. Johnsfolly, cracklebak and trythisonemv 3

Johnsfolly Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Man that is another giant! I can't stand not being able to get down there and try for one of these big browns. Any information on what he used to catch that fish? JestersHK 1

I might be able to get that things head into my net if I ever came across a fish like that. I wouldn't know what to do w/ myself! Live count (10/19/17) : Streamers lost to Taneycomo's Giant Squid = 12
Travis Swift Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 I think he said something like 33 inches long and 21 1/2 inch girth or something along those lines. I would almost bet it's from the same year class and stocking as the last one caught which according to Phil is only 6 years ago. JestersHK 1
JestersHK Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Wow... amazing fishery we have. One day... I hope to get a shot at landing one of these sea monsters.
