fishinwrench Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 BTW,. what does FG stand for ? I have a few guesses but even I can't post them here. Furious Glen knot is the only clean one that comes to mind.

aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Whats the advanage of nanofil over braid? If your putting a leader on either way. I cant imagine nanofil out casting or being stronger than braid. Sounds like its a pain in the but if the knots are that critical, not to mention double the price of braid snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 The stuff is slicker than monkey dodo. It casts farther than braid. But I gave up on it due to knot issues.
fishinwrench Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Slicker and lighter, as I understand it....but the only guys I know that think it's the best thing ever are trout/crappie/light-line finessy type wierdos that wear thongs and mini-pads. Seth, snagged in outlet 3 and Smalliebigs 3

Hey I resemble that remark ! I love the casting distance and the sensitivity. Also being able to get a decent hook set with a lot of line out (might still be the same with braid). I have some troubles with the leader/nanofil connection slipping or breaking. Caught lots of fish without having the knot break as well. So I keep using it. I do hate the kite effect of the nano during any wind. Ham and fishinwrench 1 1

Talking about my thong is bullying. Otherwise yeah mostly a UL /LIGHT crappie guy. The thing I like about the Nanofil is how smooth it is going through the guides, when I grab a rod that has some older fireline rigged it feels like steel cable. I think the knot i use is an Albright or Alberto don't remember for sure but dang I went through some trials getting to where I could tie it so it wouldn't break at the knot. Otherwise the down sides are the cost although since it lasts for years that ain't so bad, and how light it is in the wind, but you quickly learn to watch for the tic in the line. Resist the the temptation to go superlight on line size even for super clear water I have gone to 8#. The 6# is even worse for getting knots to hold. fishinwrench 1
