You all talk about the bass like its the only fish in the lake. So lets take a look at other fish like crappie and white bass. The limit on them are in the teens. People take 30 to 50 a day out of the lake. Then go back for more, and guess what, there are just as many of those fish year after year.  Table Rock has plenty of bass. I believe that they are getting smarter to the lure and line and harder to catch. Yes moving them off of the bed is not a good thing but I believe many more still spawn. There's a'lot of small fish in the lake so that tells me they are spawning, not all but plenty are. Fozzype probably had the best post so far on this board. He was not complaining and just giving some good info.  A two week lake closer sounds like the best idea yet. EVEN FROM PLEASER FISHERMAN...... That way most fish can spawn. Plus I don't think most tourney fisherman would complain either. At leased that way pleaser and tourney fisherman can meet in the middle. Even though it seems like on these posts that the biggest complainers come from pleaser fisherman. Yes tourney fisherman can be a pain, but its not going to change soon.  I believe that most tourney fisherman do care about the fishery. Yes there are some bad apples under the tree, but that goes both ways too.

If people are having trouble catching bass they are out of wack with the right time right place and to a lesser extent right way.

Bass do not get smarter I am convinced of that. I currently have a 14" bass sitting under the rear walkway on my dock. He has been there for at least two weeks that I am aware of. I Caught him 3 times already. On the same pink Sinco worm. 2 years ago I did something I never done before. I caught a 23' bass 3 times during the June July period within a couple foot of where I caught her the first time on the same type worm and color

They do not get smart to lures they just change there ways and to old stuff does not work anymore.  Line has nothing to do with catching fish it is what is going on at the end of the line is all that matters. And I am certain they know the line is there as well.

Closing the bass fishing for two weeks would be useless  Bass spawn at a variety of times covering a month or better. Because some news tells you the temperature of the lake is bass spewing temperature. Means very little. No lake has a connsistent temperature all over. It is he Temperature in the depth and place the bed selection. I know of one verification of bass spawning water close to 15ft on a hump in Clearwater lake in late June

I just do not respect people who think they have done something to brag about catching bass off a bed.  IT IS VEEY EASY. I think anybody who wants to take bass off the bed, should really feel a bit of same for interfering with mother nature.

I think you meant planting  TWO-LIPS

ha ha i get it

no I meant turnips, just putting this out there for anybody now, please correct me if im mistaken who is doing the planting but i am pretty sure mdc spends a lot of time and money making food plots and the deer dont even eat it because they dont know what the hell a turnip is to begin with.  for example ive seen deer walk right past a mdc food plot with lush greens and grains ect. only to start feeding on their usual foods . what/who are they trying to feed? turkey? quail?  ive never seen any game eating out of a mdc food plot on BUll. just a huge waste of time and money imo. bout the time they get them looking all pretty and green the lake floods anyway and cover them up, idk. the only thing eating the turnips and the greens are the poor folk, and the backwoods methbilly bunch who also cut the heads off of big bass, little bass, tiny bass, keep anything they catch or spear, doesn't matter to them. . same people who tie a stringer of 20 suckers to the back of their quad and race up and down the dirt roads dragging fish behind them, yeehaw stupid

i'd rather they stock more fish than plant vegetables is my point..

The idea that 1000 boats on a lake the size of Table-rock can have any effect on the bass spawn is laughable. Weather and water levels effect spawn.

It isn't a one-time thing. It's hundreds of boats day after day after day … and the cumulative effect is far from laughable. If 1, 10, 100 or 1,000 bass are taken off their beds during the spawn, then there CERTAINLY has been an effect. The effect simply grows by the number of fish.

And yes, weather and water levels also affect the spawn.

I am a tournennt angler I care about the lakes i fish. I have saved countless bass from hooks in their mouth's or worms they are trying to digest I try not the throw my plastics in the lake. I am also looking at this as an outsider to your lake I am from Stockton but when I come to tablerock I catch a ton of Kentucky's prolly 80% they all seem to be between 12 and 17 inch there are some really nice small mouth in your lake I have caught them up to 3 lbs i know there are big largemouth in the lake but I'm usually thrilled to catch a 16 inch fish. Now if your not going to allow tournments to bed fish or complain when they catch fish in July and augest then when do we need to fish winter time? There is tons of money brought to your area due to tournament bass fisherman. Somebody brought up early about there being a 5 dollar fee for lake restocking I think for the bigger tournments that's a great idea. As far as the fish being relocated that is a major problem on every lake because they usually take off by the darn or the biggest ramp on that lake and all the fish from the rivers that tend to be more largemouth get reflected and don't replenish I see that as a problem but you will never see the tournaments take them further than outside the cove they launch in to dump them and there is no way to make them do differently.

Point is can fishing be better at TR?

IMHO it’s been better for bigger bass in the past

numbers? From what I can find numbers are still pretty good, one reason so many tournaments

All the tournaments are more of an annoyance to non tournament anglers.

once the fishery suffers angling pressures drops.

the new format will be catch record release, it’s going that way, it has to.

sooner or later limits on tournaments will happen, how many and where will be politicized.

perhaps the kayak craze will take over from blast n cast.

lots of users group conflict in the future

When I was a dedicated tournament competitor there was 1 (sometimes 2) larger (good money) events, and 1 smaller club type event each month.

Now there are from 56-72 open events EVERY SINGLE MONTH on this lake.  And IMO that is severe overkill.   All are hauling fish around, and even on "pre-fish" days many of the guys are putting fish in the livewell (sometimes 10 of them) so they can take a picture at the boat ramp later to put on Facebook.  The "guides" are doing the same thing so they can do weekly Facebook updates.  And guys that have lakefront homes are always bringing all their keeper bass back to their dock in a pathetic attempt to sweeten their cove.

Seriously, instead of each guy relocating 200 bass every month I'd much rather the same guys just go ahead and kill 12 (a possession limit), put them in their freezer, and then QUIT moving fish around until they ate them.

None of these guys are making any money!  Hell I make more money in one day at my shop than I could make in a month if I won every tournament I fished.     It just seems so stupid to me. I'm not clear on who is being impressed by any of this.  Take all that tournament entry money and go buy a double-handful of lottery tickets every month. I guarantee you'll make more money....that you can then use to buy gas and help make boat payments and fish for FUN.
