My cousin saw a bobcat try to take down a young of the year deer one time during deer season.  The bobcat lost. It all....

They are alpha predators and can grow pretty good size like the one in the pic.  Hunters have been attacked in the woods while turkey hunting by them.

Personally, the only ones I have seen were pretty elusive. And smaller than that one.

And, I have been hunting a long time and never gut a deer in the field.  I just go get the tractor or 4 wheeler and take it to the house to a nice clean processing area.  Field dressing is for public hunting.  But the time from field to knife is usually less than 30 minutes.  Guts can stay in that long.  Hang them high, gut them clean, skin if warn and not getting cold quick, or quarter and put in refrigerator if warm weather.  Nice thing about a farm.  And telecheck.

Back in the old days, had to load them back up, drag them to town and check, then take back to farm to process or hang.  So much simplier now.  And better on the meat.

I'm gonna say possible but highly improbable.

I've called quiet a few cats in predator hunting and they are pretty sneaky and easily spooked. Usually just the slightest movement and off they go.

I will say one thing though, a bobcat in a foothold trap, may be the meanest acting animal I've ever seen.

But they wilt pretty fast in a choker noose.  Thin windpipe.

I think not. I surprised one when I was a kid. He was working on a fresh rabbit that he had just killed. He dropped that rabbit and took off. They aren’t anything like a mountain lion.

Yep, bull hockey. He shot the cat just because and needed a cover story, or just felt like spinning up an interesting tale.

I've only seen a few of them, all just glimpses. I don't blame them for being elusive since every knucklehead with a gun will shoot them just to say they did.

I’ve seen two bobcats in the past 40 years. Would probably see more if I had the patience to sit in a tree, deer gaze, and let them pass.

I think you’re dead right

The felon in possession of firearms had a live deer in the house. The video shows the same deer and bobcat found outside his home and they were serving a warrant for poaching.

His post on FB probably led them to him.
