Mitch, I think you are misunderstanding me. I am not saying we are as insignificant as a grain of sand. I’m saying we’re as insignificant to the universe as a single grain of sand is to the beach it’s in. Again...we and our actions have great significance on an Earthly scale, but not a cosmological one. We can have great effects on others, on society, on the planet. But in the vastness of the cosmos we are insignificant.

What is it about people forgoing education to spend there time turning wrenches for meager wages???  That has to be right up there with the worst job choices ever, dooming yourself to an uneducated life and spending your time on the internet deriding others decisions.  I've known lots of boat mechanics, and most of them spend small fortunes on menthols and Marlboro reds and they were all dumb as rocks.  I honestly believe that 90% of them are doing it because there is no other profession that would hire them. 

 

This was probably meant as a dig to fishinwrench, but if not you could not be more wrong.  There are thousands of mechanics accross the country making over 100k a year in just the automotive business.  One of the biggest issues I see in this country is attitudes like this looking down on people who chose to learn trades(welding, mechanic, linemen, machinist, etc).  the IBEW has a huge shortage of people due to this.  Now is a great time to be in the labor market.

I don't have much time since I'm headed to work. I want to present your argument from a different point if view. I understand with the vastness of the universe that the math would indicate that there are other planets that support sentient life forms. That should not diminish that as we currently know we are the only fully sentient beings in our solar system. That in itself should be considered significant. I will get back to this later today.

In our world today we certainly can influence others by our actions.  We as well as many other counties spend a lot of time running around stepping on other countries toes and justifying it to their nation. We are lead around like a heard of cattle   Thereby forming  national attitudes and opinions  we known nothing about. The recent behavior of the republicans in the house of representatives. Was to me embarressing as a American.

 I spent time in the Navy on a old rust bucket it was a living example of what you see or hear may not be what is.  The Navy nick named it the' Galloping ghost' of any Coast" And gallop we did. Many places we should not have.been. Doing things we should not be doing  By the way that old rust bucket was that unknown carriers that was flying support for the failed invasion of Cuba. A old shipmate who visited me after I got ou  was still on board and told me of painting over insignia and names of everything that flew and floated around the clock to get ready for the invasion. The things that go on and we do not know anything about is dangerous and offers nothing to our security and well being

Nope sure don’t but there is always something slowing up putting your boat in. It might just be a person not knowing how to back.

I have found it is normal for businesses in boats or docks to use Public Ramps most time it is just a slow time.

I’m guilty of leaving Trailer backed into the water while I check a boat out.

Just a matter of asking them about what they doing and being patent.

One of our biggest problems is a lack of communication.  If people would just talk to one another instead of just getting mad immediately this wouldnt be an issue
