Smokers seem to have a better chance than non smokers. Stumping the statistics on a respiratory disease on respiratory impaired persons. Homeless people are not dying by the thousands. Either they are better at social distancing, or environmentally conditioned. Pure crap IMO. We all now there are educated people out there who are not too smart. More than likely this qualified MD on the front lines did some googling with the words cigarettes , whiskey and coronavirus and got a hit on OAF where our educated expert Fishinwrench suggested his theory! So tell my Uncle and Cousin previous smokers that were too dumb or addicts to nicotine that now have COPD smoking is a good deal. When I take them fishing they have to stay in the boat until I pull them up the ramp because they cannot any longer walk up that ramp without stopping three or more times to catch their breath. https://www.inverse.com/mind-body/smokers-who-want-to-survive-coronavirus-should-100-percent-quit-experts-say ColdWaterFshr, snagged in outlet 3 and ness 2 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Quillback Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 New strain of COVID? this is worrisome. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/health-news/a-mutant-coronavirus-has-emerged-even-more-contagious-than-the-original-study-says/ar-BB13CHNP?ocid=spartandhp BilletHead 1

Does the infection rate line up between the sample sets? 6,000+ data points analyzed but yet 3.5+ Million reported cases? This is all claimed to be new and only "discovered" since January time frame. I wouldn't place much stock in "new" or any worse when they have only analyzed less than 2 tenths of a percent of the MEASURED infection rate. At this point, something like this only confirms we don't know jack squat about this....really. Terrierman and Quillback 2
Quillback Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Yeah I don't know myself, not something I can verify in my lab. 😀 I wouldn't say that they don't know jack squat about it either. I'd say "we" don't know jack squat, but there are people who are knowledgeable. Terrierman 1

Mitch f Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Why don’t we just keep doing the right things like the 6 foot rule and wearing a mask, washing hands, etc, and not go around worrying about it. ness Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Look at how the information has evolved. We’re learning every day. We’re going to learn more. We’re only a few months into this. Saw a story yesterday regarding HIV/AIDS It was 2 years before we even knew it was a virus. 6 years before a treatment was developed. Not being a doomsdayer biut we are just beginning this process. Done worrying anymore.. I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing until uncle onehand blows the all clear sirens. That's gonna be a while. But I'm lucky. Retired, live in the country, don't sweat not doing much in town. I'm not what you would call worried for myself but I am what anyone would call very careful. There really is a difference. But. For so many of my countrymen, I do worry. So many are not in that boat at all. I feel for them, honestly. It is not going to be easy for a good long while. snagged in outlet 3, Quillback and Mitch f 3
Terrierman Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 This kind of in a very strange but not so strange way reminds me of the USMC when I was still wet behind the ears. Started out scared spitless, finally got a little bit used to it and in the end pretty well knew the drill, what would flush, what wouldn't and what to watch out for. Sure this is different, but in some ways, the unknown finally becoming more or less routine but sill needing a fellow to be always careful, it's at least similar. Thoughts? Gavin 1
