Quillback Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 The have shown up in Washington state. Another wonderful import from Asia. "Giant hornets of this species apparently enter a "slaughter phase" during which they decapitate honeybees and destroy entire hives in the span of a few hours, according to the department." snagged in outlet 3 and BilletHead 2

I saw that headline this weekend but didn’t get to read it. Wow!
oneshot 1 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Bees have been hit hard last few years with many things but seen where Japanese Bees are able to kill these Hornets. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Zebra mussels, Oak mites, Ash boring beetles, Chicken footed pig moths, and now killer Asian bee beheading hornets. 🙄 Never fear, as an overabundance of yellow finches arrive to clean them all out.
Quillback Posted May 4, 2020 Author Posted May 4, 2020 You forgot African Killer Bees, that will be a fight to see, African Killer Bees vs Asian Murder Hornets. Terrierman, BilletHead and bfishn 3
oneshot Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 What about Big Head Carp will they eat them? Am I the only one looking at a Ground Hog in the yard thinking that would make a couple meals? oneshot
jdmidwest Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Hornets feast on bees all of the time. Wasps go after them too. Talking about native ones. Bee keepers kill more bees than anything. Honey bees are an invasive species brought here by the original settlers. I killed 15 hives this spring. Who's coming after me. Do I get a wanted poster? fishinwrench 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Johnsfolly Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I also heard that the state amphibian is the bullfrog. Also a supposed invasive in Missouri. Certainly is a problem in places like Texas and Arizona since they eat most things that are smaller than they are. My personal #1 hit listed invasive has to be FIRE ANTS!
