Most time I follow Game and Fishing Laws but have had Agents stop me wanting to write a Ticket not knowing what their talking about.

Had an Agent want to give me a Ticket over a Common Snapping Turtle out of the Niangua River saying it was an Alligator Snapper.

Had another Agent want to give me a Ticket for catching Suckers with Rod and Reel. Said the only legal way to get them was Gigging.

I met one that didn't know the difference between buffalo and carp (not a big deal really) but he was adamant that the fish were carp when they were clearly buffalo.  I initially corrected him but didn't stand there and argue with him after he "corrected" me. 🙄

Also learned how to get away from one once. Watched a Mexican dude pretend to not understand him....and just walked away after an agent asked to see his permit.   The agent just stood there dumbfounded, then went to check someone else.  I mean, what was he gonna do?  Chase him down and tackle him?Shoot him?  😅

Sadly not all agents are created equal, yet in our area I only met one who seemed....how do I say this kindly....not up to the standards I have come to expect....and that agent isn’t in our area anymore....most biologists and agents have a passion for the outdoors and givin their mandate, do a great job...if you don’t think so you need to spend some time in other states

I’ve never had the occasion to argue with one.  One is a good friend and turkey and deer hunted with us for several years.  Another on used to trap on one of our farms until he transferred to another area.

I never had any issues with any agents that I have interacted with in MO. Here we meet the same guys almost weekly that we're going to be on a first name basis 🙄.

I had one that I knew real well. My Son hit a Deer late one evening messed it up real bad. It was 90+ degrees out.

I called the Agent got his answering machine. Left a message I was going to salvage what I could bring the paperwork by.

Called him next day asked if he got the message? He said he hadn’t checked his machine. I explained the situation.

He said oh that illegal and he could write me a Ticket but didn’t.

Yes I messed up but me and him are still friends. He is retired now.

Most I don’t argue just explain and all is good. Find most have just got out of school and most haven’t studied Hillbilly.

Never had an issue and have been checked many times in Missouri hunting and fishing. Always been nice and down to business doing the job. Out of state fishing in Montana and Wyoming we were checked.  Hunting in Colorado checked by a warden riding a mule.

A couple of stories. Around 30 years ago was dove hunting in the morning. Back at the truck was checked for birds. Slow morning and I was shy a few. He counted and checked license. Same for my two friends. So I went back to another field miles away in the afternoon. Finished my limit and back at the truck there was the warden again. He asked for my license and then said I checked you this morning. Got a little sprial notebook out of his pocket. Said at 10 this morning you had a few birds, how many now? I said the rest of my limit. He counted and said well done.  Then Fishing in Montana we had our kayaks. Seen a guy way off waving at us on the lake. Then we heard him say paddle over here. We did. Well he checked our license and asked if we had caught anything? Nope and I asked why no luck. He said place gets fished out with each stocking. Said you want to catch a bunch of fish? Yes and he got out a map and said walk into this place. Sawmill lake.  Locals too lazy to walk in. We did and caught all kinds of brookies. Nice guy for sure.

So I would like to know will any of you fess up about being caught anywhere and issued a citation? Did you deserve it?
