Those are a lot more serious looking than what I saw.  I saw more of a rash instesd of open wounds.

Musky Bite caught several with this.

At first we dismissed the marks as bird strikes, but the number of white bass show in up with it sort of makes it different.  Not enough herons to hit that many and only white bass.  Muskie would hit the tail I would think and leave marks top and bottom.  Maybe Dutch can get a few pics today.

Now that you're looking for it you likely won't find another one with those wounds.

I took the Jon boat and the flyrod out this evening to see if I could find enough for a mess.   Finally, right before dark I found a ditch that was full of little ones.   They'll do for now.  No rashes or wounds here, thankfully.  IMG_20201106_174336779_BURST001~2.jpg

You know what I noticed about these white bass fake news stories.   All of you guys are photoshop wizards.  Crazy how real they look.  😆

The first 3 hours that I was out I was ready to declare "fake news" myself.  Then right as I was about to head in with my tail tucked between my legs they blew up over water that I had thoroughly covered 2 hours earlier.

Timing is EVERYTHING with White bass.

Looks more fungal/bacterial than viral. Not a pathologist.

Exactly, septicemia (bacteria) or saprolegnia (fungal) or combination. Often caused by stress due to water quality problems, handling or parasites. A common problem in Pomme in muskies and white bass. Having been the fisheries biologist on Pomme for many years I saw this especially after heavy spring rains flooded vegetation that in turn caused low Oxygen as the vegetation decomposed, causing stress and weakened immunity. Also related to influx of nutrients. (Time for coffee)

Oh man 😎 Pure, untampered with White Bass!    👍

Glad to hear that the PDT Whites have made a comeback.   If the MDC had jacked with the gene pool there....they might not have.

There's a lesson to be learned here.

What ARE you talking about???? MDC never considered "jacking" with the gene pool of the white bass at Pomme. More coffee shop talk.
