FWIW, these masks are far superior in many ways. You can see them contracting significantly on the sides when you take a breath, which indicates the air is sealed pretty well to your face shape. Our gym now is requiring to use masks, even when exercising now.

I don't know about other places around the country, but here at Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, and surrounding areas, masks are nothing but a fashion item. 

The dentist's are predicting a substantial rise in tooth decay from kids having to wear them all day in school.

If that's the case, my dentist and her assistants must all have false teeth.  They work year round, no "summer, fall, spring, winter" breaks.

The way I understood it's because alot of kids don't do a good job brushing their teeth, and the mask makes it worse.   I dunno.

Inread it on Facebook a couple days ago, and thought about, it just doesn't seem logical to me.   But I'm not "educated" .  The carbon monoxide (I know its dioxide)  is another favorite with the anti maskers.   But my thoughts are always,  how do doctors and other health care providers live?

Well for starters I don't think anyone is claiming that it causes DEATH.

Doctors, dentist's, and EMT's don't drive to work with them on, and don't walk around with the mask on all day long.   The kids in school, my daughter included, are only allowed to remove them during lunchtime.   And even have to wear them during the bus ride to and from school.  

My kid has tender red spots behind her ears from the stupid things......but she LOVES THEM.   It's part of her "outfit".    She's accessorizing ya know 🙄

Carbon monoxide is more toxic than Carbon dioxide since it can out compete oxygen for the active sites on hemoglobin. So in a carbon monoxide rich environment your body will suffocate.

Yes they help some in the big picture, but it is always  the mask wearer  protecting the other people not the mask wearer protecting him/herself.  The question becomes one of "whats in it for me?" if the masks don't protect the wearer.

The mask @Mitch fposted does provide some (95%)  wearer protection and should be all that are allowed if masks are mandated, because these also provide full protection for the other people.

I think the poor oral hygiene has a lot more to do with it than the masks do.  Kids are home with a lot of schools closed, especially in New York where the dentists who have claimed the masks cause tooth decay are from, and their parents most likely aren't there to tell them to brush their teeth.
