Ryan Miloshewski Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Lake Taneycomo near Lookout Island. I've been fishing a lot of places, and Taneycomo will always be my favorite. JestersHK Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 I posted these in the other thread but Oak Creek Canyon in AZ is very photogenic as @budman showed us. Taney will always be my mistress though... she haunts me in my sleep, and I feel more connected with her than any other waters I've been in. Johnsfolly, Otay Michael and Quillback 3
budman Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 The picture I posted of Oak Creek is of a place my wife calls the" big rock." Her grandparents had a cabin along the creek here from the early 50's to the 70's. Parts of the foundation can still be seen and a little bit of a outer wall that went to a basement bunk room. Her grand father was a sheet metal worker and built a backpack tank to carry trout down to this area. He would wait by the road for the trout truck and they would give him about 30 fish and he would carry them down to the creek for release and make all the grandkids wait 30 minutes before they could start fishing. She has lots of great memories from there and last time we were there she just sit for and hour and told me stories of all the adventures they had, about Walking from the cabin to Indian Gardens store to get ice cream or skate at a roller rink that was next to the store, now a Yuppie cafe, hiking on the many trails in the area or just swimming in the creek. There used to be a place called Don Hoel's, the only place to get a fishing license in the area. Great little store but poor ole Don wasn't so lucky. Seem a boulder fell off the side of a cliff and smashed his car will he was driving one day. Some of her family still own's land in the area just up stream a few miles behind the old Junipine Resort. Used to go to Slide Rock way before it was a state park and it was free but the only place to park was any wide spot on the road. Never stayed at the old cabin but have heard a lot about it. Didn't think I was going to get her to leave that last time we were there as you can see from this pic, she just wanted to stay and remember all her younger days. Hope we all have a place that we can reminisce about simpler times in our lives. Quillback, nomolites, JestersHK and 2 others 5
JestersHK Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Thank you for sharing that. I was only lucky enough to spend 2 days there, but it was def an awesome place. We took my girls to slide rock and although it's crowded and commercialized I bet it used to be a special place. I think I fished that very pool in your last pic. Although they weren't monster fish they were plentiful and fun to catch. Otay Michael and Johnsfolly 2
Johnsfolly Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 My favorite trout river in Missouri is the Current River. Caught my first MO brown trout and my 300th MO brown trout in that river. So many memories over the years. Caught my first 20+ inch brown in this bluff hole on an emerald shiner Rapala taildancer bait. Caught my 300th brown trout fishing a hand painted Rapala F11 past that brush pile. Not a giant but a memorable milestone! Largest hatch I have ever encounter on the river. Flysmallie Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Of all the places I have gone and fished, the James River seems to be my favorite. BilletHead, FishnDave, nomolites and 4 others 7

FishnDave Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 I apologize in advance if I'm giving away too much with this picture...many of you may recognize the spot and also have it near or at the top of your list of favorite places to fish. Now, while that's a great spot, its very rural, so I don't get there much. Closer to the big city, there's some really great spots to relax and enjoy calm and quiet weekend days. I don't see too many places with good beds of lilly pads to fish for bass trying to find shelter from the bright hot sunny days. But really, you can fish spots like these, which are more commonly found locally, just like you would those lilly pads! I think @snagged in outlet 3 enjoys fishing here too...I see one of his blue shoes. Johnsfolly and snagged in outlet 3 2
Johnsfolly Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Another favorite in Missouri. Fished it for nearly 20 years with family and friends and made many great memories. Seen many changes and pressure, but still a favorite of mine. snagged in outlet 3 and FishnDave 2
