I'm going to get out Monday in an ankle brace.   Getting rid of the walking boot on Friday.

Reports from a couple of sources today that its about time to get after the big Jaws.

We have discussed this quite a few times. Big jig and deep water.

They just were not out there last year. They are now.

Mostly on long gravel. And a big jig of 5/8-7-8-3/4 or 1 oz.

I like the big Nicholes 5 inch craw and stroll or drag it really slow.  Hope Bo isn't listening

Said there were some quality K's mixed in.

That's what I'm talking about.

Lots of shad suspended just off the gravel points, and the smallmouth are really stacked up in 24-28ft until late morning. Zero surface activity, I think the shad are just too deep. All the smallmouth we caught today were very healthy and fought like it was late Spring! Should be a fun bite for a while.

Where does a fella find the 5 inch Nicholes craw? I like the look of it.

The one thing I always remember about this time of year is when football season starts its time to pull out the football head jigs. Someone on here said that before I'm sure.

Haven't heard that saying but it's a good one! Thanks for sharing.

An option available locally is the Strike King Rage Craw or the Googan Krackin Kraw. Both are bulky 4-inch models and will do the job as a big jig trailer.
