I think that's the first time anyone has called me a liberal.  I'm smiling.... if you can't see through your device.

And it's funny to say that fishing isn't talked about enough by members.... please, please by all means please talk about fishing!  We can't have enough conversation about fishing.

I do love Glen's response though.  This place is much more than just about fishing.  It's about friends sharing life.  And if it's not about that, then I will shut the whole thing down and you guys can go back to Facebook.

But I will say this - Scott is on the top of my list to go on a river smallie trip with!

You are pretty liberal with what you let us get away with.

I can’t post pics of my fishing here because local dorks have taught me about location services on your iPhone  by showing up exactly where I took pics lol

Seth you are correct I am hypocritical and I will go back to fishing and under a rock over here in silence lol

The only time a gps is running on my phone is when I need a map.  I turn location services off, saves batteries.

You can also edit the data on the pic or crop and save it to elimate the location information on the pic.

I follow a few forums and none of them has the nonsense this one does. It’s not heavy-handed daily moderation that keeps things in check on those, it’s an acceptance by the members of some basic rules, respect for others, and an understanding and acceptance of what’s good for the group as a whole. Common sense stuff, really.

This won’t be popular, but in my opinion the moderation here is weak, because it tolerates the junk here. The three things that are stated no-no’s: politics, religion and language come up almost every single day here. Personal attacks are tolerated. Members have called others liars. It’s not always blatant, but it’s always here. Things are allowed here that other successful forums simply don’t. Not just through tough moderation, but also through the group’s intolerance of it.

Moderation isn’t censorship. It’s keeping the peace.

It’s a shame what this place has become. It used to have real camaraderie, a wide range of interesting topics, and … even more fishing reports. But the BS just drowns out the good things, often creates animosity among us, and drives people away.

This really could be a better place with some effort. Better that the Facebook crap. Or it can go down the tubes like most forums have.

There you go, off topic, swearing, reference to religion.  3 strikes to you...

I think this forum is a great resource. Glad I was told about it four years ago. There are definitely some things that get out of hand, but that's what being behind a keyboard facilitates.

I like talking about other things than fishing. The cooking thread, movies, duck hunting, etc. is all valuable information that I enjoy discussing with other guys on here. Heck, with the state of the world we're in sometimes it's just good to have a discussion with other folks. And times aren't getting easier. (I know I'm young but it's true).

I post quite a few fishing reports when I do fish, whether it's Taneycomo, Truman, LOZ, or the like. I start a duck hunting thread each year that a lot of guys use to discuss the season, and it's about the most civil public discourse I've ever seen on waterfowl hunting. Facebook duck hunting groups are vicious. I've used advice from members on here for articles as well. I am friends with quite a few people on here now, too.

I moderate the Lee's Summit Area Fishing page, and I will say this: we are strict on rules and have to approve every post before it goes live. And generally, the members appreciate it because it keeps things focused on fishing in the area. No memes, posts from areas outside of LS, ads, business plugs, language, etc. But that's Facebook, and a very niche group. A forum with countless sub-forums lends itself to a variety of topics, which is a catch-22. I tend to like it, but that's just my opinion.

I'm with Wrench--if you don't like a topic, don't click on it.

I could literally pick this to pieces and convince you that you're SO wrong.

Instead I'll just ask a quick simple question.....

If it's so bad, then why are you here?

Sure,  I remember looking up your number and calling you to encourage you to not quit. Felt like the right thing to do at the time.
