Lvn2Fish Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I think it’s ridiculous also ! And I don’t have much respect for all the guys that do it . But there are plenty of really good fisherman that do not use guides .
Deadstream Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 The money they spend to compete is crazy. Some guys get the jackpot. Most don't. Like a golf tour, racing. Until they make it illegal why would not use all options. I think they should outlaw electronics for the "pros". JMO.😘

Im just saying if you cant figure it out on your own maybe you shouldn't compete. I bet when those guys win they thank all their sponsors that gives them %20 off but they fail to mention their guide that put them on the fish. I get it that it is legal and people do it, it would just be hard for me to be proud of myself for catching fish someone else put me on.

Not only that......They are fishing baits that they didn't design, on rods that someone else built......and doing it all from a boat that somebody else built. And if it hadn't been for the Alarm Clock from Japan, they'd have never even made it to the registration in time. Bet they didn't even raise the chicken that laid the eggs they ate for breakfast either. B.A.S.S stands for Be A Super Slacker ! Did they even dress themselves ? Probably.....but it was in clothes that somebody else made. Jesus H Christ, can these guys not do ANYTHING for themselves ? 😁 Self sufficiency went to hell as soon as momma put her tits away. DADAKOTA Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I used to be amazed that wherever the Pros went at whatever time of year they flat caught fish. I was in awe of their knowledge and abilities. Then I came to find out that they hired guides, and had locals doing their footwork for them. Basically found out the truth about the Pros. I was no longer in awe. The ability to find fish or be led to fish is still the key to tourney angling. Not once in all the years I have watched tourneys has anyone ever thanked their guides or the locals that put them on fish. Instead they "peacock" and make it all about them. Now they have FFS to find their fish. Probably end up like wrestling and have everything staged.
willyfish Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 It is what it is folks. Like any other profession you gotta do whatever you need to do to make a buck. end of story
bobby b. Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I guess it is best that all these advantages are legal (i.e. getting a local guides waypoints) because if they weren't they would be done anyway, at least by some. I had a friend from my work that grew up with a now famous Pro fisherman and remained friends with the Pro during his career and he told me of some of the illegal thing the Pro did to win. He told me that somehow he had a guy under a dock put fish on his hook. He also had locals dump bunches of fish on a hump out in the middle of the lake for days before a derby. I guess it's guess human nature in some to win at all cost.
fishinwrench Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 The main thing to learn from FFS is how important TIMING is, and the key is to not overfish them when they simply are not ready to chase and bite. Show the fish a bait when the timing is right.....and you could probably catch them on a oily spark plug with a hook hanging off of it. Keep throwing at them repeatedly with various baits when the timing ISN'T right....and you'll likely shut them down to where they won't bite ANYTHING for the remainder of the day. Seth 1
