Moon phase and fishing

Im talking in general not just bass, i know a lot of old school guys believe in this.   I think its a crock of BS

Only with respect to the fulls, really. Those have an obvious effect.

In terms of timing throughout the day? Have not seen it matter. At least not that I can prove.

When all other conditions are stable and favorable....it seems to. 

But a post cold front, or rapidly falling water will shut'em down just as quickly during a full moon, as it will any other time.  

The best days to fish during the Spring are the days where the daily Highs are closest to the daily Lows. Doesn't matter if it's Sunny/Cloudy, Full moon/Half moon, Windy/Calm..... if you have a 24hr. period where the high is 70° and the low is 67° (for example) you'd better get out there !    Those conditions indicate steady winds, steady barometric pressure, as well as steady temps.   And if, by crazy chance, the moon is within 2 days waxing/waning of a full moon.....DUDE!  🎣   Even Kamala Harris could load the boat.

In fishermen kept record of fish submitted to their recognition program and found the entry’s followed the 3 days before and the days after a full moon and or new moon…they looked up state records and found the same results…..other things come into play like weather, water conditions, but the results are clear for the biggest fish….I always planned fishing trips in those windows…I’ve caught a lot of big fish that way….perhaps it’s a evolutionary throw back to tidal effects who knows but for trophies it’s true

I have a feeling that pelagic fish are more in tune with solunar periods than structure/cover oriented fish.    But then again.... those fish EAT pelagic fish (shad) so it only stands to reason that they'd be effected, to a degree, also. 

Termites are supposed to swarm in mass during full moon periods, but lightning bugs and June bugs are allegedly scarce during the full moon.......So if SOME insect species react differently then it's probably safe to assume that SOME fish species react differently too. 

I've personally never noticed a period of time when every fish species in a lake/river was all fired up at the same time.   They almost seem to take turns.  

For instance: The absolute best time to catch Drum is during those times when you can't buy a single bite from a Bass or a Crappie.  If you're bass or crappie fishing and you catch 2 drum......you might as well just go home, get drunk or high, and do chores.

I fish when I can and ignore the solunar tables, because it doesn't make any difference to me as to whether or not because I'm going.  On the way to the lake I do pay attention to whether or not the cows are laying down.  And I go out of my way to dodge skunks crossing the road.  And of course, no bananas!

I haven’t noticed a lot of difference when day fishing but I have done a lot better night fishing for bass when there is a waxing moon.  The waxing gibbous has always been the very best.  However, a lot of the time we experience turbulent weather around the full moon like right now.  I was planning on an evening/night trip to the north end of Stockton today but the weather has about changed my mind.

I always tell Donna that cows laying down means they're tired and cows standing up grazing means they're hungry. And nothing more. LOL

So what about other factors.  Today we are:

• 2 days from a full moon
•  falling barometric pressure in the last 24 hours
•  high flow coming off of a rising lake
• dirty water in some places, gin clean in other areas
• very cloudy and some rain

I'm thinking an excellent day for fishing but I always think that unless it is 20 deg and 30 mph north winds.

I found this device on ebay call Anglers Edge Speedtech? made by a bunch of software engineers that adds all of the factors above into a little device and it says that this morning until 11 am is the best time to fish.  I THINK THAT THESE ARE THE SAME SOFTWARE ENGINEERS THAT MADE MY GARMIN FORCE TROLLING MOTOR.  😀😀
