MoCarp Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 This is interesting….plenty of things for bass to eat…but the calories expended does matter….what’s changed? More gizzard vs threadfin shad? When calories are available help jump bass from one prey item to another….baby common carp have more calories than a rainbow trout is an example…..fishing pressure does hurt fishing…unsure how much is known on TR from hatching to lunker size knowing what is foraged on and when….genetics, male vs female distribution…..want bigger bass? Release the big fish…new slot limits….less pressure…way to many tournaments….sacrilegious I know..but jacking up tournament fees capping how may may be needed….the Great Lakes fishing boomed because zebra mussels cleared the water up…..changes in the sampling should show up MONKEYS? what monkeys?

And what has he done, except complain? He's doing it to generate click bait income. He's got an audience of people who he has believing he is leading some type of movement. There is no movement, guys will post on the internet complaining about growth, but beside complaining, don't do squat. Whenever the movement gets started and is led by people that are committed to doing more than whine in videos, or post on the internet, let me know, because I might sign up. Reality? People don't post videos on Youtube to explain reality. They do it to generate click bait. They find an audience that believes what they are preaching then they feed them the video. I give them credit for figuring out how to make money posting videos. Great way to make a living. You want to stop growth on Table Rock, well you'd better have good leadership that can deal with politicians and a host of government agencies that set the regulations. Clicking on Blaukat videos won't make that happen. That's the reality. It will take hard work and commitment and there's a good chance it will go nowhere because there are a lot of people out there who are perfectly happy with continued growth. Good luck and let me know when you find someone who is a leader and willing to make the type of commitment that is needed. It will be a long hard slog, it's going to take years of dedicated, smart work and more than a little money. One last thought, then I am off to fishing. This is turning into a finger pointing exercise. Developers, wake boats, tournaments, FFS, and even happy people, it is always someone else. Everyone of us that fishes or spends any time on these lakes or rivers or has a business that is associated with the fishing and boating industry are part of the problem (if there really is one). You'll never get a "movement" going if all you can do is attack whatever group or groups you see as being the enemy. All that will happen is that we'll go back and forth on the forum until people get tired of it, and in 6 months or a year it will pop up again. Nothing gets "fixed". Heck I haven't seen anyone on this thread come up with any kind of plan or course of action to fix things. grizwilson, aarchdale@coresleep.com, top_dollar and 6 others 9

I could not agree more. This is refreshing to read and very well said.

waterpossum Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I haven't fished Table Rock in a number of years. I first fished it in the mid seventies. Tournament fishing had just really started to become popular. I was privileged to fish with a lot of the early Table Rock legends. Charlie Campbell, Terry Thomas, Bobby Sullivan and Lefty Evans to name a few. I was never faintly in their league, but out of luck had some decent days. The weights were consistently better than todays weights especially considering the electronics and gear. Occasionally in the 700 boat Oly tournament a couple of 10 pound fish would come in. Then the tournament scene proliferated and the big big fish quit appearing. When I bring up the Missouri State Regatta tournament page nowadays it's appalling. April will probably be in the 80-90 range. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that keeper fish caught hauled released, caught hauled, released, caught hauled released are put under a lot of stress. It's not good for the health of the fish and consequently the quality deteriorates. I'm sure there's wads of off shore fish for the Scopers, but even more of those fish are being assaulted.
