They Are Here, Red Eyed Bugs All Over.

Plenty of lizards at farm, gray fence lizards all over in wood.  Seen several fat ones ready to lay eggs.  A few of the slick skinks too.  Never liked them, had them dart in house when you open door.

No hatch in Festus,  but about 5-10 miles south in DeSoto, I see many reports.

Nothing in south KC yet, but the bird dogs look like grazing cows out in the yard, and they're not eating grass.

They'll mosey along with nose to ground and every now and then come up with a snack.  Fresh hatched cicadas have always been a favorite of theirs.

My wife's yip yap dog will walk around with a live one in his mouth, before eventually eating it.  More than once he's let one go in the house.

I bet the bowfin, grass carp and gar would hammer cicada flies. I remember when there was a big cicada hatch just raising some giant trout in skinny water during the day and catching bluegill on every cast until we got tired of reeling.
