jdmidwest Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 50 miles east of the farm near the Mississippi River, nothing. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
fishinwrench Posted May 8 Posted May 8 The only thing hatching around my place, so-far, are Termites, and the long, skinny caterpillars with the twin yellow stripes. Saw a lizard running across the shop floor with one of those caterpillars in his mouth today.....He seemed really proud of it. 😊 kjackson and snagged in outlet 3 2
jdmidwest Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 Plenty of lizards at farm, gray fence lizards all over in wood. Seen several fat ones ready to lay eggs. A few of the slick skinks too. Never liked them, had them dart in house when you open door. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
ColdWaterFshr Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Big time hatch has started just within the last 24 hours here in Ballwin. Not noisy yet. FishnDave 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted May 9 Posted May 9 No hatch in Festus, but about 5-10 miles south in DeSoto, I see many reports. snagged in outlet 3 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Maverickpro201 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Nothing but 1 in Hillsboro area. But this morning I looked in the mirror and my eye's were really RED. Must have been from to much Bourbon last night. Does that count? bfishn, BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 1 2
Gumboot Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Nothing in south KC yet, but the bird dogs look like grazing cows out in the yard, and they're not eating grass. They'll mosey along with nose to ground and every now and then come up with a snack. Fresh hatched cicadas have always been a favorite of theirs. My wife's yip yap dog will walk around with a live one in his mouth, before eventually eating it. More than once he's let one go in the house. snagged in outlet 3 and BilletHead 2
FishnDave Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Checked outside this morning in Creve Coeur/Saint Louis. Hatch has started here! Johnsfolly, ColdWaterFshr, ness and 2 others 5

I bet the bowfin, grass carp and gar would hammer cicada flies. I remember when there was a big cicada hatch just raising some giant trout in skinny water during the day and catching bluegill on every cast until we got tired of reeling.
