My Bet is on Ducky to get board with Bass and go after the crappie. RPS has heard rumors of walleye so count him out ( big walleye Randy ) and Bill will go in to full on Guide Mode and his partner will win it. Phil will get a text from Ducky and end up catching crappie and walleye on a fly.

  10. Fished Norfork with my dad on Thursday afternoon. Only my second time fishing the Norfork. Got to the Ackerman access around 1pm. The first few hours were pretty slow using a double nymph rig with various midge patterns. Walked up to the island and caught a few small rainbows from the faster water. Then it started to rain and pretty much everyone left. The rain let up around 4pm and then we went out as the fog was setting in. Catching started to get pretty good using a pink and red beaded san juan worm and a grey scud as a dropper. Caught probably 10-15 in a hour with that setup. They were hitting both flies. I also had my first double rainbow.

  12. More than one person asked me which blank I used to build my Ned Rig casting rod. It was a Mudhole SJ8600-MHX blank that is designated as fast action, medium light power, 6-12 line, 1/16 to 3/8 lure, 7'2". Today I had an older Curado on it. I will switch that to my Revo MGX this week. dtrs5kprs: It is sweet.

    Live coverage

I was hoping for some live coverage of the OA Big Bass Shootout. I figured since they did it at this years Classic it could be duplicated for the OA tourney. Phil and Bill you can get crazy at the weigh in and scream out gi gi gi giant bass. Hope all had a great day. Wish I could have been there.

  20. I was fortunate to be at Roaring last October after a flood around the 10-11th of the month.Big fish had escaped from the mill pond and they were pretty abundant.I try to practice C&R on big fish when at all possible so the 3 days wife Susie and I fished ended up catching 11 lunkers. Had one die that I couldn't get going and didn't say much to some of the buddies on the Forum as I was a little embarrased that it happened .Fish was over 10# and 2 of the other fish were bigger that I released. How this ends up being a new fishing report concerns one of the bigger fish.On the opener, one of my fishing buddies was fishing in the twin falls and missed a huge fish .When it rolled he said "I think it was the big fish you turned loose". He is a taxidermist, fly tyer, rod builder, etc. The lad wears more hats and has more on his plate than most. The 2nd day of March ,his uncle Danny who has been a fishing buddy for 30 years had the same moment. He didn't get enough hook in this monster fish but saw it clearly and again said I think it was the big fish you released. This Thursday,my older brother "Toofer" is at Roaring with his son-in-law and the boy's Dad for the latter 2 first time at the Park.Older brother who fishes well but hasn't fly fished much until last year got into some big fish. His voicemail was priceless "Saw 5 lunkers and the first one took a swipe at the fly and missed-the 2nd one he didn't get enough hook in and it throwed the hook and the last one was a great big rainbow".He described the short but exciting battle as the fish made 3 long runs and had wallowed on the surface before it made one last attempt and broke his line.I asked how big and he said biggest he had ever hooked.Sent him a picture of the biggest one I had released from that area and he said "I think it was the same fish".That one fish if it is the same fish is sure getting a lot of mileage and has created some wonderful memories for some of my family and friends.Don't have a clue if it is the same fish .Know it was still swimming when I left Roaring in October and wasn't caught opening day.Tim said a young man did kill a huge rainbow in the winter C&R so that could be the fish or it could still be swimming.

    Hobie Pro Angler

All the videos I saw on the Hobie they were in a lake. The Mirage drive lifts from inside the yak, not sure how heavy it would be to lift while sitting down. The Native Slayer Propel 13 is real interesting looking yak, the fact that it will back up is really cool. From what I can find they run about $2500 for the basic model, the you can add the accessories you want. Thanks for the tip Plastic-worm from what I saw I like it better than the Hobie. According to Native The Alpine Shop in Kirkwood is a dealer but they are not listed on their web site. Might have to run by there next week and check.

  22. Don't be so hard on yourself, man. You sound like me! Your paint work is plenty good and it's very generous of you to offer it as a prize. Tim has been doing custom paint work for gosh knows how long and has been featured in Bassmaster magazine. We don't expect any amateur to match his work. Good luck tomorrow and thanks again for your donation.

Haha not after the day I had today you guys would want me out of your boat. Caught around 7 or 8 fish today between my dad and I with maybe 3 keepers. Fished all day in the downpour. Pretty miserable out. Had quite a few come strike and misses on the stick bait. Seemed liked they were trying to kill it rather than eat it. Wish I could make it down guys and visit with all of you. Family is down here so I can't make it. I will definitely plan on it next time. Good luck guys and catch some biggun's.

  30. It has long pools and wide, mostly shallow riffles, water is usually clear to very clear, big gravel bars, mostly rocky bottom. Fishing is much better than the upper end simply because the upper end nearly dries up in the summer, while the lower end retains plenty of flow for fish. There are a couple of sharp-dropping rocky riffles that can give the inexperienced canoeist trouble, especially at higher water levels when they produce some good sized standing waves. Scenery is as spectacular as anywhere on the river, and that's as spectacular as anywhere in the Ozarks. And you get a real feeling of wilderness, since there is no good intermediate access and no cleared bottomland, just a wooded hill on one side coming down to the river and a bluff on the other that might go up 500 feet. It's a stretch that everybody who loves Ozark streams should do at least once. It's floatable year-round if you don't mind dragging the canoe over a few of the widest gravelly riffles. For fishing, I'd like it to ideally be somewhere around 200 cfs, no more, on the Harriet gauge. As long as it's flowing 150 cfs or more you won't have any trouble floating the riffles. In June it can be considerably higher than that. I don't know how high it would be before I'd hesitate to float it, since I've never been on it in higher water levels.

    bass pro bowfishing

Not what it once was, for sure. Have to like fishing shallow and dirty. Fishes a lot better when it is about 6'-7' high, bushes and ditches. I was also thinking about how some of those TX types go about things, full speed and check what you hit later.

  39. I had my first trip of the year yesterday, put in at Aunts creek., I don't fish Dec,Jan, or feb, so was looking for warm weather of March. With the snow and cold from last week over and warmer temps this week I was ready to go Fishing. With the boat into the water , my Yamaha fired up on third crank, thats is a good thing. Off to my first bulff end, on fourth cast with the ned rig I thought I had a hung up, only to my surprize to feel something move with the bait. First fish of year Thought I had a Lm Or Sm of good size ended up with a 5 pound Rainbow trout.. I have caught trout before in T-rock nothing of this size, after a few pics with my old camera back in water she went. Only fish i caught all day.. Water temp was 42 degrees. Good first trip...

  40. Bill I'm thinking the same way you are I think a solid spot like you caught the other day might be the ticket but my question is are they gonna stay deep in submerged timber or are they gonna make a move. the rain is going to trigger them but when. I'm going to go to a couple my old spring spots for K's start deep and work up till I find them.

  41. There's one thing for sure the spoonbill are showing up on the down scan view on my HDS-10 Gen2 this time of the year. There's no mistaken their image of the graph. The spoonbill really needs the river to rise to get them really heading up stream. Maybe they will get the rain to raise the river this weekend. Watch out for the logs and trash if it does, there's a flood watch on for this weekend...
