Pepe Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I was fishing one of the points at the junction of the White & Kings yesterday afternoon without too much traffic out. A wake boat with 2 adult men and what looked like a 12 to 14 yo boy aboard came into the area with live concert level "music" blasting. Way more than the usual volume. All the boat occupants were Caucasian. But what they were playing was hardcore "urban thug" rap, where all the females are reffered to as female dogs are, or with a name that rhymes with doors. The "N word" was a constant as was the MF references, killing, raping, robbing, etc. Vivid degradation & violence. Did I mention this was LOUD. As you may know, there is a large Christian youth camp at Point 22 that caters to urban kids, mostly Black, who are active in that area all day. The counselers always have at least a couple boats in the area dragging kids on tubes and they use the canoes in the back cove. I was frankly stunned that any adult would let a teenager listen to that filth, but also that they were doing it in front of a bunch of kids that are getting exposed to experiences that may not otherwise be available to them - natural beauty & good moral role models. Note: my cabin is right across from the camp and there is never anything foul coming from there. The only noise is "happy loud". i found the whole thing ignorant at best and hateful at worst. I was sorely tempted to flag them down and ask them to turn off the violent audio pornography. I will defend their right to do as they please in private but not make the rest of us endure it. After stewing for about 20 minutes, I realized they weren't leaving so I did. Think I should have had some words with them? Grumpy53, magicwormman, DADAKOTA and 4 others 7
Mitch f Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Some people haven't figured it out about noise pollution. They think everyone wants to listen to that crap. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
eyedabassman Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Pepe, it was not worth saying anything in fact I think they wanted someone to address it. Like a cannon waiting to go off! they have a wright to play that junk but when it affects others then it is another story!
dtrs5kprs Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I see the same thing around 13 all the time. Apparently they are trying to look hot for the ladies. They should hear my 15 year old daughter laugh at them. Nothing less hot than dudes with their shirts off, skiing together to gangster rap. According to her, they should try hair cuts and actual achievement. Champ188, Grumpy53 and SplitG2 3

Shell Knob is one of the absolute worst for loud music and totally out of control wake boats. Had a issue up there last week It was the same deal and they waked between me and the bank where we were casting with their boat in less that 5' of water. They were blaring the loudest Country Music crud I have ever heard. This was at 6:30 in the morning. Kids across America is on that point Pepe and I am sure everyone of them not only hears that music, but plays it on a continuing basis. The lyrics of some of the modern rap and crossover stuff is simply frightening. If a white person voiced any of those types of lyrics, you would find yourself in the poky in about the drop of a dime. vernon Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 You guys just don't get it. We have to respect the rights of ALL human beings - regardless of how subversive they might be! At least that's what I keep hearing on the TV. And, if you don't believe it, just try speaking up about it sometime. They'll be sure and let you know that they have the "right" to do anything that they want - regardless of how offensive you might find it to be. Just wait, once we get rid of that ol' out dated, pain in the azz Constitution thing, we'll get this stuff straightened out and America will be a better place for it! Sometimes I'm glad I'm gonna be dead soon. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.
MOPanfisher Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I am all for respecting other folks, as long as the respect is returned. I have heard a lot of music on the lakes, some I like some I don't, but as long as it isn't causing my rod tip to vibrate, eh I just ignore them, as those types don't stick around long usually. Don't get me wrong it irritates the crap out of me. Sometimes you get the distinct smell of marijuana as well. My favorite folks are the ones who have their radio tuned to a baseball game and fish slowly, I don't watch baseball, haven't since the strike in 93, however for some reason I enjoy listening to it on the radio, reminds me of old times with the window on the truck down, sitting on a shoreline fishing while the Cardinals play. I once fished behind a guy who had a ball game on his radio just so I could listen. Gangsta rap stuff is ridiculous, I have friends who are as WASP as they come who listen to that "stuff", simply don't understand it. vernon and Hammer time 2
