Speaking of Chicago and wild fish sales, there's a book out there, Game Wars, author Marc Reisner (you can find it on Amazon). Basically it is about undercover US fish and game agents going after poachers. One of the operations they conducted was on Louisiana poachers that were netting crappie and selling them in Chicago. Chicago seems to be a good market for freshwater game fish for some reason. dtrs5kprs and MoCarp

From what I gather the buyers are near Chicago. I have been told by my supervisor that there are some fish hauler/transporters ( middle men) ready to pick them up and take them up there. Also for the last two years or so we had a Chinese postdoc from Chicago and she would mentioned there were many people in the Asian communities up that way that bought a lot of largemouth bass. Has your organization considered looking into commercial fishing for Asian carp? Logic says that would be an easier market for Asians, not to mention closer to and easier to transport to Chicago. fishinwrench
I followed the proceedings of that Paddlefish case until the end. It started off being 2 foreign guys and a dude from Lake Ozark. Charges were dropped against both foriegn guys during the second court date, then there were 6 continuances and finally almost 2 years later the charge on the LO guy was dropped to a misdemeanor, he pled guilty and payed a fine that if I remember right was under 400.00 Seemed like a rediculous amount of crap to go thru just to get 400.00 out of a guy. I'm sure a lawyer made some coin on it, but just think of the potential amount of taxpayers money wasted in the process of that. Federal agents, Detectives/Investigators, MDC agents, Prosecutor, Judge, Balif, Court recorder, Filing agent, The vehicles they drive and the fuel they burned up, ect. They all have to get paid. So the Feds and the State spent probably 30k+ on that sting.... and 2 years later got paid 400 bucks. I don't know whether to laugh or cry 😂. This is the payoff for funding this brilliant Paddlefish BS that some of ya love so much. In the meantime, how much faith do y'all have that a few MDC higher-ups aren't providing Spoonbill eggs to someone for cash ? Think that sting will ever happen? The conspiratorial side of me suspects that might be the real reason why some are so diligent about "providing Paddlefish for Missouri sportsmen". Where's Dablemont? He sure has been quiet lately. WTF don't they eat fish that are actually good to eat? What do they have against salmon, cod, crappie, white bass, or any other fish commonly considered delicious? It's just like these ding-a-lings that pay a weeks wage for a plate of eel. Ya oughta just feed them a frikkin water snake and throw a party with their money. vernon and tho1mas 1
