Go native! So Wrench are you advocating that the MDC quit the trout program too? Another Wrench pet peeve is the Spoonbill stocking. Hey they are just trying to redo what man in his infinite wisdom did with dams to take out the NATIVE spawning grounds. Do you wan the dams removed and go back to a riverine system so native can come back? It would drain your lake and way to make a living? Guess you could move to the salt and work on crusty outboards that or since we will be leaning to a more natural setting you could become a dugout canoe patchier or builder? I know how you feel about that . Since all the condos and hotels along the lake will be high and dry maybe the septic systems will percolate directly into the ground and there will be less runoff. White bass will become abundant again. I am just getting into a debate mode again. Saber rattling sharpens the sword buddy. I just wish I could kill more carp or go back into time over 140 years ago and stop the initial stocking. That is where it started. Lets start with what MoCarp said the MDC is doing stocking urban ponds with a non native fish . Guess that would be cheaper than providing the city folk transportation to LOZ to catch and eat tournament bass. BilletHead Oh....Booooyyyyy! I'm fixin' to rip you a new one, as soon as I'm done helping my sweety make this here potato soup.....and before the final WS 2017 game starts. Go Astros ! grizwilson 1

fishinwrench Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Alright, now you listen here you old curmudgeon. That trout program is a pretty good thing, it financially sustains itself, and the waters they are stocked in are pretty much worthless for anything else, so I see nothing wrong with that at all. I'm so glad that you brought up the Spoonbill program and how they feel compelled to keep them around, because it gives me a perfect opportunity to point out that they ALSO ruined MORE MILES of smallmouth water than they did Spoonbill water when they started building dams....and they don't do jack ---- about that. Why not? Can't even get a regulation or some extra enforcement to keep them from getting gigged.....but get caught piddling with a jar full of Paddlefish eggs and you'll lose everything you own and do some hard time. Re-freakin-diculous. It wouldn't break my heart to see the dams go bye-bye, I'm starting to have thoughts of early retirement anyway. I'd be happy as a clam running a river resort.....or better yet, just being a porch ornament/greeter while my kids run it The White bass (if we can still accurately call them that) are still plentiful where I fish. These thick jawed mutts with oversized tails are a blast to catch, so I guess it's fine as long as they don't go Pomme de Terre on us and just suddenly die off and become extinct for some unknown reason. But if they do I know darn well who I'll blame for it, and you'll never convince me otherwise. Now whatcha got? grizwilson 1
MOPanfisher Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Maybe we could hybridize some carp that would survive is those cold water trout streams. I wish they would stock wipers in Pomme instead of muskie, at least I wouldn't lose as many crankbaits. The whitest are trying to make a comeback on Pomme, small ones were thick last fall and this spring. I havent had a chance to even think about trying for any this fall, but if that many had died off this year there would have been a pile of them blown to the bank somewhere.

See there Wrench those stinking white bass just die off in Pomme and there isn't even any hybrids in there : ) There is something wrong with whites in your lake because of all the hormones in the pee from all of those party folks. It is effecting everything out there. Does not make any difference in hybrids because they are sterile.
