Old plug Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I have no problem with a 15 or anything else. But if it was up to me all rifle type weapons would have a 3 shot capacity Like shotguns. There would be no unregistered guns with the exception of pellet and BB guns. Not registering a gun.Would be a felony. Punishable by a fine of $5000 and some prison time to go with it. In my neighborhood I got some unregistered AR15 that were bought at gun shows by old guys that are scared the poor folks are going to revolt and take away there heavy money bags. And they want to be prepared for the call to clean ut the swamp they say. Most of them cannot even wipe there a-- properly. Much less Go into combat with a bunch of young people In there own swamp the alleged swamp. jim1 1

Alot of parents would make a more effective impression on their kids if school counselors would stay out of it. I’d like to agree but....can’t. Parents and the normal family have changed. There are exceptions everywhere and plenty of disengaged parents. My family is odd. Stay at home Mom by her choice/passion. Single income and 2 kids. We do ok and are pretty involved with the kiddos. Old school on manners and polite expectations. We play a lot of baseball and u can easily tell the kids who are part of a family from the ones viewed as something their folks have to deal with. A few drop offs with no parents at practice, they break down if they are having a bad day way easier than the kids with involved parents. Coddled kids show real easy and struggle with handling mistakes we all make. Im not that old (compared to a lot of u guys 🙂) and my disdain for electronics and the virtual world online grows by the day. Manifesto posts on social media, distorted reality on tv, etc. The quicker kids understand they get what they try for the better off we all are. For Pete’s sake we reward train dogs and folks entitle their kids. It’s a shame. tho1mas, JestersHK and fishinwrench 3
JestersHK Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Some very interesting viewpoints here. All I know is that buying ballistic plates for my daughters backpacks is a really crappy topic to talk to a 13, 9, and 6 year old... I've been exposed to some nastier parts of society working in the city as a teenager. Seen people get shot, car jacked , and robbed. It was at those impressionable teenage years I decided I would never be a victim. I try to impress that on my kiddos. To raise them to be respectful and polite, but also to never be a victim and have accountability for your actions. To fight with every ounce of strength they have if they are ever attacked or preyed upon. Values that are foreign and lost even amongst some of the kids they hang out with. There are some days I'd like to just stop the planet and get off... Talking to my girls about why a person would kill other kids and them processing that and watching the fear register of knowing they are not protected is one of those days. My oldest knows I carry, she knows I have AR's, she also is smart enough to know that I cannot always be there to lay my life down for them. That sucks as a parent... Not sure what the right answer is. Gun control Laws are laughable. There's something like 3 guns for every citizen in the US. Good luck keeping them out of the hands of nutters. And for those saying nobody needs an AR15 do you really trust in the government to protect you and your family 100% in a crisis? When civil unrest strikes are you prepared to be undergunned to defend getting your family to safety? Are you ready to be undergunned defending your life and property from looting and rioting? I wish I didn't have a need for having so many guns, but then again I promised myself I wouldn't be a victim... Smalliebigs, Deadstream, BilletHead and 2 others 4 1

Lets be honest - your AR15 collection has more to do with owning some pretty cool toys, than it does with family protection for that time when you never know, "When civil unrest strikes" snagged in outlet 3 and Greasy B 2

I worry more about folks that worry about that stuff than I worry about it myself. And I'm not a worrier. Yep, I'm well prepared to go down without much of a fight. And my kids don't return texts as fast as I think they should, so they're on their own. fishinwrench and ColdWaterFshr 1 1 John
fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 In an actual defense situation I'd rather have a kevlar vest and a shotgun or two, than an assault rifle and a handgun. Day or night. Fully awake or half asleep.

JestersHK Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I have shotguns as well. AR's are very versatile tools. Never thought of them as cool toys, just tools that each fill a role. Have much cooler guns than any of my ARs... I don't fantasize about going down in a blaze of glory in a pile of brass, nor am I a crazed Doomsday prepper, but I won't go down without a fight if it ever came to the defense of my loved ones. To each their own...
