oneshot Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 When I was young all kids fished for Bluegill with long Cane Poles and later in life I enjoyed large stringers of Bull Bluegill from ponds with Rod and Reel. What has happen with people fishing for Bluegills for the Frying Pan? oneshot BilletHead, tho1mas, MOstreamer and 2 others 5
Ham Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Not fancy enough for most people anymore. I remember when opening weekend of squirrel season was a Big Deal, but nobody cares about that anymore. I don’t care to eat Bluegill, but I like catching them. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Mike I keep the big ones too. I like to eat them. I have caught several fatties on TR while fishing for walleye. These were like 35 ft down in October, seemed like they were all big. fishinwrench Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 There's a 70 acre pond that I love to hit every March with a 4wt. flyrod for big honkin' gills. If you hit it right (timing) when they first move into the shallows you can catch nothing but the big ones for 2 weeks. After that the little farts take over and it gets rather monotonous. When you was young it was politically correct to eat fish you caught, today catch and release is a religion. Even on a bluegill forum it is said c&r is the only way to get big fish. tho1mas, dan hufferd and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
