Would the lake trout have to be on a fly?

Thought that I have given you some info a bunch of those species, hope that it helps. When you are ready to travel, just PM me.

Yes, you have given me some great tips, thank you!
I’d like the Lake Trout to be on fly, but they are rarely in water shallow enough for that... So I’ll probably have to take the first on one whatever tackle is required at the time.  Catching one thru the ice would be cool, pardon the pun.

My 2021 Goals:

1. Fish with @Ham .

2. Fish with @BilletHead for Koi and Catfish.

3. I’m not going to set a species number goal, but there are some species I’d like to add to my Flyfishing Life List:

-Longnose Gar

-Blue Catfish

-Redspotted Sunfish

-Chain Pickerel

-Warmouth

-Flier

-Bowfin

-Flathead Catfish

-Musky/Tiger Musky

4. Some species I hope to catch on flies in MO this year that I’ve caught elsewhere but haven’t caught here yet:

-Brown Trout

-Rock Bass

-Black Crappie

-Hybrid Striped Bass

5.  And a longshot goal.... I wanna catch a Lake Trout.  I never have.  I don’t really know where a good place to go would be.  Great Lakes?  Probably won’t happen this year, but its a bucketlist goal.

1. Get kids out more we mainly kayak fish and the 2 older ones are big enough to paddle there own kayak now. (Game Changer) and youngest is old enough to spend full day infront my boat.

2. Try fish few of kayak tournaments which should put us on some new water also.

3. Get back to my roots. We recently moved and I have found several wading size streams near by. Plan on introducing kids to way it all started for me.

4. Cut back few other hobbies and put more time on water.

My fishing outings came to a screeching halt for a few month in 2020.  Last trip was in April, a few days before my shoulder reolacentry surgery.  Next trip was October, was a good trip but sure was sore.  Went a couole more times and it got better.  2021 I hope to be a better year, I just he to figure out a good way to launch my boat by myself, gonna use a long rope I think.  Hopefully back it the crappie fishing this coming year.

I imagine I’d have more things I’d think of at a later time but currently got a few things that are very easy to think of for next year’s goals.

1. Fish more than this year.
2. Actually go on a fishing float.
3. Take the waders out more and wade fish in general a bit more, in some nice scenery.
4. Take the kayak out way more than this year for fishing outings.
5. Just in general be out in some nice natural scenery more, fishing or not.

I am going to drop my lunker trout goal back to 50 this next year. I am also trying to help my wife get  15 next year. I had 35 this year {2020} and she had 10. She also had the 3 biggest fish. A 10.19, a 8.65, and a 7 lber that I lost at the net. I might still be in the doghouse over that one. Hope everyone has a great 2021 fishing season.

Common Carp - 17Aug17.jpg

If you look in the background of this photo my daughter is fighting her first ever carp and it was at least 1.5 to 2x the size of mine. Well I lost that fish while netting it ! She gave me grief for a long time about wasting time on getting a photo of my fish or being a terrible net man….. She has caught a couple since that one and has since forgiven me.

So @laker67 there is hope to be forgiven, maybe after you net her 12 lb trout ;)!
