I believe that that one should have the right to go out and get this virus and count on their immune system.

  • But if you infect others unknowingly before you even know you have it and they die that is wrong.  And we are still not certain if asymptomatic spreading is occurring or not.  Although I am sure there is information out there that will tell you it is not.
  • And masks are worn to prevent one from spreading the virus it has nothing to do with your freedom.  You do not have the freedom to randomly shoot a pistol in a crowd.
  • And as Ham said: our health care workers are living in a hell-on-earth.  Out of human compassion I am hoping to avoid adding to their workload.

I am eager for the vaccine.  The other person in this house is at very high risk if she catches it so we are diligent in our behavior.  I skipped deer season with my buddies.  I don't play cards at the local bar on Wednesday nights.  These are just two things I would love to do again.

Makes me wonder what the process is for someone that has recently recovered from COVID, whether they should get the vaccine.  It doesn't make sense to me that you'd need a vaccine if you've recently recovered from it, but I'm a layman and this virus is certainly different.

On the paperwork Pat had to do before getting her vaccine there was a question if you have already had Covid or not. She said it is recommended you get the shot but need to wait a certian amount of days before getting it.

I don't know that.  The 4 I know did not quit.

My niece is currently technically a student although she's working in real world applications and putting patients under but she said that as of this weekend they were being told that they would not be required to take the vaccine.

That being said, she's a realist and fully expects to it to become mandatory once others higher up on the priority list are vaccinated.

I can't imagine many people actually quitting a job over it especially when job options are so limited already.  I'm just not a big fan of "mandatory" anything.

I still contend that that it's not the government's job to protect my health, that's my job.  It's the government's job to protect my rights.

And there ain't no pandemic exception in the Constitution.

In a word, bullsh**. You do not have the right to kill me or any of my loved ones with Covid. This is obviously an emergency that is not addressed in the Constitution, nor does it need to be. If you have a TRUE medical issue that prevents you from taking it, so be it. If not, I would like nothing more than to see the government mandate that all U.S. residents (citizens and aliens alike) be vaccinated against it.

Covid is not a joke and it's not a platform for you to wage your silly "my body, my rights" junior high civics class freedom babble. It's a pandemic-level disease that has killed a whole friggin lot of people. Wear a mask, get the dang vaccine or stay away from me.

I may have missed it, but will the Covid vaccine be a yearly deal like a flu shot or is it more long term like mumps, measles, and rubella vaccine?  If yearly, how the heck can folks depend on it each year, when we can't even get the first rounds in folks arms?  What will these future rounds cost since the first round is free?

Happy to report that it appears my niece's roommate is going to be OK.  Her symptoms from the reaction to the vaccine began to improve after a little over 24 hours and she is much better this morning.  Still a little scary to say the least.  Not sure if she sought medical attention but I hope she did so that this thing can be documented and considered for the future benefit of others.

That being said, yesterday my brother went to get his teeth cleaned and the dental tech (a friend of ours) told him that another staff member at a different office had been vaccinated on Friday and had developed a bright red rash over most of her body similar to a bad sunburn.  The rash was quite uncomfortable - extreme itch and blistering also similar to a bad sunburn.

Again I don't know if she sought medical treatment but I hope she did.  I certainly would have.

That was yesterday late morning and I haven't heard any more since.

And Champ I'm sorry but I disagree.  The Constitution is not a malleable document nor is it a "living" document as so many in DC want it to be.

One exception will inevitably lead to more exceptions until we have no Constitution at all.

Unfortunately I believe that's exactly where we're headed.
