I went through a phase with it here on Lake O, and also on Lake Lanier in GA.

Did really well with it, but honestly mostly short fish with only the very rare 3 pounder.     A jig head with a Zoom Swamp Crawler worm on it always outperformed any bucktail/marabou/fur strip jig I ever used.

I love the concept and the take. I’ve actually had more luck in Rivers.

Has anyone had any luck throwing it yet? After Bills big post about it last year i bought everything to give it a shot

Here is a link to it if anyone want to take another look

Several years ago I got into it with plans to spend some time at Dale Hollow looking for big smallies.  I even bought fnf jigs from Dale Hollow Tackle to use as patterns.  At certain times it has been killer for crappie.  I’ve caught lmb, spots, cats, carp, whites, and specs on it but nary a smallie.  I haven’t used it for years.

It's been my coldwater bass go-to for years.  Typically was best October-early December, when it's been my best producer of big bass.  Catches big fish for the waters I was fishing in Iowa... 18"-21.5".  I use the fly rod version.  And being shorebound, I found fishing along the first dropoff from shore to work the best for me, and I would typically set the jig 18"-22" below the bobber/indicator.  So....not as deep as folks are often fishing in the big lakes of southern MO.

I don't know where the big bass are in my area of MO yet, so I didn't try it much in the late Fall of 2020.  Here's a pair of 20" bass caught on consecutive casts in November 2019:

Here's an 18", 18.5" and 20.5" caught that same month.

It is always fun the watch the cork disappear.

If you can't feel the thump on a jig, or see the wake then splash and pull on a top water, a dissapearing cork is the next best thing for a visceral response to the fish taking your bait.

What has puzzled me: How do you land a fish in a boat on a 12 foot dropper, even with a 12 foot rod?

I understand dragging it ashore, but, even with my 4 foot net handle and a 7'6 Ned rod, light line landing is difficult without risking the tip of my rod. With a 12 foot dropper, I wouldn't want anyone near with a phone camera.
