Shad Kill ? Oh yes indeed.

Last time these extreme low temperatures lasted this long the Threadfin Shad kill was HUGE !  And these lows are setting new records. -7 F this morning at Baxter.

Walking out on a Dock it looked like the bottom was covered in Silver Dollars from all the dead Shad. 

The Lake is steaming like a cooling Lake does in mid-Winter at a Coal-fired Power Plant.

You better be there quick.  When so many come through, the fish gorge on them and then shut down.  You'll see trout swimming around with shad hanging out of their mouth and they won't bite anything.  If you ain't first, you're last!!!😂

Huge kills are neither good for the Rock or Taney. Moderation like in most things is the key. We want some but not rafts of them. 

4 degree was my low at the Lodge this morning. We had 1 degree for a low yesterday. We have not seen a minus number yet.

Went to the dock first thing this morning.  The last 20% of North Indian locked up.  The old timers (meaning having lived here much longer than me) tell me that they have never seen this before here.  These are the last two docks on the north end of North Indian Creek if you know the area.  Water depth is 30 ft. at those buoys.

Not sure if this is Global Warming or a Polar Vortex but I'm sure the weather men have a weather b____.  (Don't want to censored).

I could stand on the ice under the dock.

Our dock on the NShore of LOZ is locked in...not very common to be sure but not unheard of to old guys like me - I have an ice saver running and all will be well.
