willyfish Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I know someone had to see Jimmy Houston and Roland fishing together on Houston's outdoor show this last week. First off holy cow what a school they ran into! A school of 4-5 pounders showed itself and it was pretty dang cool. Old Jimmy has the key to these private lakes in Oklahoma, he seems to be on one every other show. The graphic said southern Oklahoma and he mentioned a town called Heavener I think, where his crankbait is made. I found it on google maps. Anyone familiar with that area?
budman Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Small town in southeast OK with lots of hills and pine trees. Cedar Lake, small lake only about 80 acres, where the last couple of state record large mouth bass have been caught. Present record stands at 14 lbs 13 oz. I think no motors allowed on the lake.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Doesnt Jimmy have his own lakes on his property? I watched a show once where he was putting something in it to create an algae bloom and also he had like 200 lbs of crawdads he was letting go on the edge so they would crawl in. Man that would be the life. magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 2
Bill Babler Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Jimmy’s wife Chris really should be in our prayers. Extremely poor health. Got so tired of watching Bill Dance catch 5 pounder after 5 pounder in the PRIVATE FLorida lakes then try and sell you the No-Miss lures he was catching them on. They would bite a tennis shoe. My friend pond in Camden county is about 5 acres and you can catch a 3.5 pounder and up for hours at a time, almost every throw and really any type of bait. dtrs5kprs, magicwormman, dwiebenga and 1 other 4 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Never have liked the fishing shows where they fish a private lake and talk about what a great lure they are throwing. If they want to sell me a lure, film your show on Table Rock or better yet, Beaver and show me how it does on the highly pressured lakes we fish. magicwormman, cheesemaster, Smithvillesteve and 7 others 9 1

I remember back in the day I would hear stories about certain shows using scuba divers. They would attach fish to the lure under the water and it was fish on for the "star of the show". It was the only way they could make a show to sell product. Quillback and dtrs5kprs 2

One of my fishing partners used to get the fish ready for the show. dtrs5kprs and Quillback 2
Smithvillesteve Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Had a buddy tell me one time he was sitting in a bar with a guy that worked for Lindner's fishing show. He claimed they would put fish in a long pvc pipe so the fish would come flying up out of the water. Just sayin. Quillback 1

Nobody. dtrs5kprs, Quillback and fshndoug 3
96 CHAMP Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I liked the old Bill Dance shows with the regulars of Mell Tillis and Jerry Reed, they were always getting into mischief. The shows are now based on selling products, I don’t watch them anymore. Quillback and mixermarkb 2
