When you're a self described hammer, nails are practically everywhere.

Understand, but what I’ve witnessed happening for the last 15 years is quite disturbing. I’m glad to see there are many like me out there. The greatest generation made a fatal mistake…they wanted their children to have it better than they did. They also never instilled in their children WHY the US was the greatest nation on earth.

The luckiest thing that ever happened to me was going to USMC instead of college out of high school

That's pretty much the same path I took. I went with the six year Corp vacation plan, and of course I'm better looking. But other than that. Ditto.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

been a trend the last decade or so

They all went in this morning.  My daughter's friend group at Missouri S and T all have internships and full time job offers prior to graduation in those fields.  In the case of my daughter she got both in her Junior year.

My daughter has an English degree and is making good money. Plus she has her summers off. It’s not always about the degree, sometimes it’s about the person that holds it.

I think one of the biggest problems we have in this country is we decided to start judging happiness by income. Then you end up with a bunch of kids going into fields that they have no interest in. People should strive for their kids to be happy and let them work out the rest. Don’t worry, nobody will look down on you if your kid doesn’t come out of college in 3 years making 100k.

Very true! The first question a Chinese asks is what school did you go to…drives me fruit. Does it really matter?

Most folks from StL also inquire what school you went to.  Except they mean high school

Is that to keep them from marrying outside of their own families?

I told them out there it’s either kin or cows.

Here Here 👍👍🤟

My kid exited college and is knocking down some pretty good money, but she's been with her firm for only 2 years and is already showing signs of burnout and frustration.   Life is too short for that BS.

Money won't buy you happiness, but it will buy you comfort, and it offers mobility should you decide to change careers.

Better to be an engineer and decide to be mechanic than the other way around. :D

Oh I don't know.....   I have a daughter and a couple of customers who are engineers, and when I think of what it would take to make a decent mechanic out of any of them......Yeah, NO!  😂

Every engineer should do time as a mechanic FIRST.    Then, and only THEN can they truly be a good engineer.   👍
