That place used to be loaded with big bass. Over the last few years the grass took over and it became basically unfishable. They dredged it out but killed all the fish, from what I'm told, so I have no idea the state it's in anymore.

My buddy used to live right by it and we would fish a lot after work in college. He caught an 8.2 largemouth and I landed a couple 6-lb fish on frogs. This is 2010-2012, though.

Seems like she said something about that when they moved into that neighborhood several years ago. Seems she also mentioned that they restocked it but I don't really know. Hopefully there is something in there to keep him interested. He's only 11 so it won't take much.

Let me ask a couple folks and see what the status is. It really used to be awesome. For fun now, in the daytime, they can go to the spillway beneath longview. Always stuff to catch there, and easily.

We were just talking about that the other day. Haven't had it for years, but we do like it. Chocolate version too; we had that a lot as kids.

Well, I'll say it again: you just haven't had it cooked right. :D  Steel cut, with a little butter and real maple syrup is really good eating, IMO. The missus loves it with brown sugar and cinnamon.

I can not stand Steel cut oatmeal. I really enjoy Old Fashioned Oats. I can't eat the instant ones.

Oatmeal used to be good with lots of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.  Maybe a little cream to loosen it up some.

Steel cut oats seemed like it would make good animal feed, the ONE time I tried it.  Oatmeal in the form of oatmeal raisin cookies, now there is a worthy use for oatmeal.

Want to talk about animal feed that people eat for breakfast?  How about those range cubes they sell as shredded wheat?

If you're going to go to that much trouble might as well have a waffle.  Everybody likes waffles, right?

But then you need to drag out the waffle iron.  Takes more time.

Frozen ones don't cut it.
