Sprint21fter Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Fished a club tournament yesterday was fortunate to finish 3rd, we had a 4 fish limit due to the heat and fished til noon. 12lbs won it and 11.5 2nd, myself had 11.17. Big Fish was at 5lbs caught on a 10inch plumb worm! Congratulations Damon! For the last 2 months the bite for me has been first light til 10am. Beating the banks covering as much water as humanly possible. If you don’t see bait activity you’re wasting your time. I ve tried deep docks with spoons and my timing must off cuz I can see the darn fish piled under the docks but I can’t get them excited. But I know people have been catching them especially around the thermocline. Drink plenty of fluids everyone! gurzik, waterpossum, nomolites and 11 others 14
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I found you really have to commit the whole day to the deep docks, most of them wont produce any but you will eventually run into the right ones. And be prepared to loose a lot of baits, we lost easily 10 yesterday. Thats what we did all day yesterday, never even attempted anything else
Bassin4fun Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 This past Saturday we ran across a school in 40ft of water out in front of docks. They were suspended at 20-30ft. We worked spoons through them. I was throwing a flutter spoon and my brother-in-law was throwing a slab spoon. We were both catching them...mine was chrome and his was white. When they stopped biting those, I caught a few more throwing a 6th Sense deep diving crankbait that gets down to 20 plus feet deep. None were keepers...but they were in the 1-2lb range..a few were probably just short of keeper. Almost all were spots...although one or two greenies in the mix too. We caught a dozen before they quit biting. That was from about 10am until about 11am. That hour made the day. Prior to finding that school, we had only caught two bass from 530am until 10am. 😳 Quillback, Johnsfolly and bobby b. 3
Quillback Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Talked to a buddy that is catching walleye right now on a spoon. You gotta find them of course. magicwormman, dtrs5kprs, Terrierman and 1 other 4

Bill Babler Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I’m going to be pretty frank here. Walleye on the White River right now are not a problem on live bait. Really easy to find if you know the depth. Catching a limit of keepers is basically just doing it. Crawlers, artificial drop shot worms or spoons. They are totally mixed with the bass, both LM and K’s. Don’t need a ton of bait present either. Quite a few channel cats are mixed in too. Must be a huge crayfish population as just about every bass you catch regardless of depth has feelers sticking out of their gullets. I cleaned 1 walleye the other day cause I caught it in the gills and he had 3 crawdads in its belly. Hope people let those walleye go to grow. Sure , keep one for dinner. A single keeper or 20 incher feeds me and Becky with a piece or 2 left over. Absolutely no need to kill a limit or even 3 for that matter. Just a nice pan full of FRESH fillets Be kind out there. big c, Zulu, magicwormman and 8 others 11 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Smithvillesteve Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Tell the people up at Stockton that Bill. I tried and got grilled!! The best response i got was: "yea, i practice catch and release. Catch and release right into the hot grease!"
Bill Babler Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Yep, let’s just use up everything we can. We bought a fishing licenses so let’s kill all that we are allowed by law. Don’t understand it now and never will. One of my best friend just thinks it’s God Given right. Every time he goes to Canada or Alaska, especially Alaska he wants to bring a 100 pound of fish home. His freezer blew chunks this Summer and he said he threw away Halibut fillets from 15 years ago. It was his right however. His daughter in laws dad fishes Stockton and has a party every Fall. Said he will fry at least 75 to 80 pounds of walleye and crappie fillets for his guests. As far as I’m concerned the guy needs jail time. Thought of it sickens me that he would kill that many fish over his position limit. waterpossum, dtrs5kprs, Champ188 and 2 others 5 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Devan S. Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I wouldn't worry about the walleye in the summer....far more taken out earlier in the year. I swear a game warden could support the entire department for Missouri and Arkansas if they would check limits and possession on walleye in the spring. Its the same boats over and over and over again and they look at you like a moron when you throw back keepers.
rps Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I kept most but not all legal walleye I caught. I tried to never exceed the total possession limit (8) in my freezer, but that was not difficult. To do so, I merely adjusted the frequency of days fishing. Some days I only fished the morning top water bite and came in. We used every fish I kept. dtrs5kprs, magicwormman and mixermarkb 3
