Stirring the pot but there is much truth to this.

I think Largemouth in lakes are somewhat overrated.  Largemouth that live in rivers are way better fighters.

I have always thought and still do that LMB is the most overrated sport fish ever.  For the table or the rod and reel.

I think the cool thing about LMB is the huge variety of methods and lure styles that you can use to catch them. And that they are willing biters through all 8 seasons of the year (yeah there's 8 of them).   So boredom never really has a chance to set in.

I do believe that these die-hard offshore livescopers will get bored playing that game after a few more years though.....and it doesn't appear that they have the willpower to turn that thing off and do anything else. 🤔

Agree for the most part.  Especially for food.   But they do bite big lures on heavy gear so that’s a plus.

Yep.  Hard to catch a stocker trout on a half ounce spinner bait.   I love a good spinner bait bite.

Oh heck yeah!     It's Jerkbaits & A-rigs, then it's Hula-grubs and Wiggle Warts, then it's dragging Carolina rig lizards......And then the spawn begins and we get to do some sight fishing and jig pitchin'.

Then just about the time you're running out of jigs and Flukes it's time to start worming deeper brushpiles.    Then before ya know it the better bite is on heavy jigs and deep crankbaits.

Starts cooling off and we get that first cold snap.....Time to polish up those spinnerbait blades and sharpen those swim jig hooks.  But wait...... they'll crush a Rattle Trap in the backend flats too !

Oh a cool Fall rain....oh chit.... Where's my Buzz bait & Zara Spook box????

If you're a bass fisherman and you find yourself getting bored throwing the same bait for weeks at a time......you are either asleep at the wheel, or you just ain't paying attention.  🤟   IMG_20230429_171853491.jpg

I enjoy fishing bass tournaments. Outside of a tournament, I'm going after trout, crappie, hybrids, whites, catfish, pretty much anything besides a bass. Maybe it's because I REALLY like to eat fish and I'd rather eat all of those over a bass. Don't get me wrong though. A mess of 12" largemouth or spots out of cold water in the winter/early spring is pretty darn good!

Yes, forgot one sorry ask @ness same question. 😁Am I leaving anyone else out how about @grizwilson ?

Well after returning from Northern Michigan, Driftless in Wisconsin and North Colorado on a 4 week journey.... Love all of them, trout, walleye, SM, etc.  Love the highs of 70s when it is near 100 here.  Love and respect each fish and their habitat. Ready to go to the "meth den" and find some hybrids.....wherever there are any fish I love to pursue.  Fly is my preferred method, but spinning will work too.....I should never be allowed to touch a baitcaster again.... have been known to use a gig also.  Whatever it takes.  Just Love fishing and the places they live (except the meth den)    Went to a guide friends house in Northern Colorado to watch a couple Meateater shows.....not impressed. Not a fan of most outdoor journalist....sorry @Ryan Miloshewski would rather live it than read it.

No offense taken. I'm the same way, honestly. But it is cool to write an article to help folks cook wild game, tie flies, fly fish, duck hunt, etc. while also helping legit outdoorsmen and women get some business.

I have a great article coming out in November about an absolutely great guy I met, Chris Polk, who makes some of the best teal calls I've seen or used. He's so humble he just used my buddy as a starting point to really sell his calls. Business boomed a bit because we sent everyone to him, and now with this article I'm hoping it really booms for him. That's what I like doing.

Driftless in Wisconsin

I’m headed there in a couple weeks for some top water smallie action on the Wisconsin river.  I have a guide one day and he is going to give me places to wade fish too.  I have access to a cabin up there so I want to scout it out for future trips and take my jet boat.
