Professional fishing only for the tough!

I kept up with the Elite tournament especially the last 3 held up north. Main reason was Scott Martin called me few weeks ago and wanted to try out my LSmount. How could I refuse? He used it at least 2 of the three tournaments and gave me a good heads up on his St.Clair video. Has three transducers. Perspective and forward on trolling motor and wanted my unit so he could stay on target with third transducer.  I haven't called him yet for a good or bad report. He seems like the real deal and has a great following. I enjoyed visiting with him. 

BUT !!!!!  Is there any sport tougher than tournament fishing. Mostly 2 days practice then 2 to 4 days.....standing in all sorts of weather. Fighting 2-3 foot waves or more at times. Casting all day as fast as you can generally. Traveling all over the country. Being away from home for days at a time. Having to make yourself available to promote sponsors all the time. 

What other sport is so demanding?  I admire them but don't envy them.

It's an endeavor that sucks you in and doesn't let go.   Takes more than a tough guy.....it takes a tough family.  

For a long time I thought I had what it takes, but I didn't, and I'm GLAD.   I wouldn't wish that life on anybody that I truly cared for.   Most PF careers enjoy a hot streak that lasts several years......then after that nobody really cares about you anymore.

Lol almost every single one.  Bass fisherman are not athletes.  🤣  99% of regular people work harder at their day jobs than pro bass fisherman.

 Anyone who thinks pro bass fisherman have a hard job, or are somehow athletes are completely deluding themselves.  It's fishing,  not work.  Pro bass fisherman are independently wealthy people who decided they would rather fish every day than do real work.  I don't blame them, but to say they work hard, or even worse refer to them as athletes is ridiculous.  Hell Rick Clunn won a tournament at like 70 years old a few years back. How many people over 40 can compete at the highest level in real sports? Basically zero, but bass pros can fish til they are 80 because fishing is not that hard.  I just find the whole concept of tournament bass fishing being hard to be laughable.

I'm just guessing, but the mental aspect would seem to far outweigh the physical.

To understand the financial, mental and physical demands of a full time tourney angler, one would need to step into their shoes for a season.  The body takes a beating on those long boat rides and standing on the TM for hours on end.  Then you figure all the drive time, maintenance and upkeep on all the equipment, boats, vehicle, etc.  Then all the time spent getting and keeping sponsors happy.   Then you still need to keep the family happy.
