Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 12, 2017 Root Admin Posted June 12, 2017 This is what we tried to fight last year... real estate people got the gov't to lift the moritorium so that they could sell more property around the lake. It means you'll see more docks on Table Rock in the coming years. Good thing for land owners, and I guess anglers who like to fish around docks, but not a good thing for people who don't want to see Table Rock become like LOZ. But in saying that, I don't want to sound like I'm totally anti-growth. I just didn't like how they (RE people and the gov't) changed the rule... basically caved to special interests instead of the majority of people. That's how I understand it. dblades Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Basically our elected representatives sold out to commercial interests and interfered with the Corps proposals for shoreline management, the way I understand it. dtrs5kprs, bobby b., Greasy B and 2 others 5
Quillback Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 If they are going to allow additional development, then they need to consider expanding/renovating public facilities such as ramps and parking. Bassmod, abkeenan, Ham and 1 other 4
vernon Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I've said for a while now that it won't be long until my drive to the lake is gonna be an hour longer. Because I'll be going to Bull Shoals. I've been retired from the COE for almost four years now but this stuff was being bantered about before I left. I didn't know of a single person in the COE that was in favor of it and I doubt there are many now although once the feds have rammed something down their throats they don't have much choice but to put a positive spin on it. Good soldiers, company line, team players and all that crap being what it is. One thing for sure, the Blunts and their associates will make a killing off of this deal. LOZ West has been their objective all along. Terrierman, Quillback, dtrs5kprs and 3 others 6 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." skeeter Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Lifting the moratorium on new docks....dumb as they come until the unsold (by dock speculators) numbers of unused, vacant slips, is greatly reduced....some have sat there empty for over six years. For just one example, I have a direct view of a 20 slip monstrosity (placed for once on an unproductive bank...surprise,surprise) across the main channel from me that has sat there for four years now with ONLY one boat on it. Lifting the moratorium on the ability to make repairs to existing docks....good idea and that particular "moratorium" should have never happened which shows a person just how poorly managed the Little Rock ACOE District is. Leave the darn shoreline alone...people have based their property and plans on the existing restrictions and rules. They might stop giving out exceptions and deferments based, very obviously, on someone getting their palms "grea$ed". magicwormman, snagged in outlet 3 and Browning Guy 3
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I've been vacationing at TR for 50 years and this last Labor Day was the first time we left the water due to the crowds and the waves. When a 21 foot runabout is too small to be safe it's over for us. There must of been 6 wake boats in Long Creek right at the state line and I'm telling you it was unbelievable the rollers that were in there. Ruined our day. Members jimalert3 Posted June 12, 2017 Members Posted June 12, 2017 It's the same old story--money. The corp has alwys said the dams were for flood control and recreation was a small factor-BS. magicwormman and Grumpy53 2
Browning Guy Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 $$$Blunt, $$$McCaskill and $$Long. Had a friend fishing the mid James this past weekend and he said the boats were out of control. The next thing we'll see is removal of the buoys by the Waterpatrol. With that the LOZ south transformation will be complete. Sad to see what was once a bit of solitude and sanctuary will now give way to party coves, drunk boaters, foolish/dangerous boating and destruction of shoreline and docks. Nice work $$$Blunt, $$$McCaskill and $$Long. snagged in outlet 3, Grumpy53 and magicwormman 3
176champion Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Looks like Stocking Lake is in my near future....it's 30 mile longer drive, but may well be worth it. MoCarp and terryj1024 2 I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
