I'm just happy everyone involved is ok, all too often this doesn't seem to be the case these days. Its really sad a family can't go have a nice time on a pontoon without having to worry about massive wakes.

I'm happy to hear everyone was ok , but I'd be curious to hear details of the incident mentioned above.

For all the folks here bashing the wake making crowd, do any of you read the Water Patrol website accident reports?  Take a few mins https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP03/SearchAction?searchTroop=D   We do have some TRL incidents but I'm unable to find any reports that include a wake making boat...not a single one this year.   That said, pontoons are certainly in quite a few of the reports.

I certainly concur that the lake is busier than I've ever seen in my 40+ years of using it.  On top of it, I'd agree that there are quite a few stooges out there that are completely oblivious to their actions.  That said, it doesn't even come remotely close to LOZ.  No where even in the same ballpark...

EDIT : I stand corrected - I found incident#  170480309 - a pontoon boat ran into a 2016 MasterCraft, while that MasterCraft was tied up in at dock at the State Park Marina.

Wow - How do you sink a Pontoon Boat - one of the pontoon must have been taking on water or ripped from the deck:blink:

As an LOZ denizen I can tell you that a two log pontoon has no chance in rough water - there are VERY few in operation on LOZ any more.  The front end will nose completely under bringing the rear out of the water if the operator is not on the ball and depending on weight distribution the logs and decking will sustain heavy damage. That's why a pontoon to run LOZ anymore can run you well above $100k, with three oversized pontoons and some added framing....oh, and depending on length 2 matching 250(or more) outboards to push the beast.

i used to own a 2 log ponton on LOZ  came upon a giant cruiser roller ( they are very hard to see) cane pver the top seen what we were into but otvwas too late stuffed the nse of that pontoon into that roller water cane  in breaking thecfrontvdor and the back ebd raised out of the water so far the motor was about 3 foot in the air? I hollared for everyone to stay still and the boat just backed inself out of the hole and we were ok. Incan omnly imagine whatvwould have happened had I not hollered or paniced. Old navy experience cones in handy from riding liberty boats.
