Daryk Campbell Sr Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I am fishing for me. I have no idea what records there are, really don't think I care. I would definitely want to measure, and photograph my large catches, but again, that's for me. I will be happy to brag, and the picture would be proof. When I was a kid, there was a commercial with two old men in a boat on a lake. They were fishing for "Bubba", he seemed to be the legend of the lake. At the end of the commercial one was hooked on a fish that was towing the boat across the lake while one of the men were yelling "BUBB-AAAAAA!!". Am have spent my fishing life looking for Bubba. I hope to never find him. I love seeing people catch and record their catches, I love seeing the records broken. It is just not for me. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I caught a slob of a hybrid striper on a fly in IL about 8 years ago. After I let it go my buddy pulled up the state record which was around 20 pounds at the time I think. He said "Do you think that one was close?" I've always wondered if I let go the record. It was every bit of 36 inches long but I just thought the state record would have been like 40 pounds or something like that.

It didn't recover from the shock so they put a hush order on it, and swept it under the rug. Anybody here know exactly how big that one was, and if it was a rainbow or a brown? I think that would be a good place to redirect the ones bellyaching about Mr. Bablers fish. 😊 I heard it was a non-triploid brown that weighed 41 and change. I also heard they torture kittens instead of doing their jobs BilletHead 1 John

An insult to “natural “ fish everywhere. Therefore, I object. And, will never fish Taneycomo. Imagine. Trout in Missouri living in a river below a dam. The very idea. Never say never, Joe. I'd love to take you fishing down here sometime. snagged in outlet 3, laker67 and BilletHead 3
ollie Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 It appeared to me that everything possible was done for this fish and in the end it died. There will always be trolls and people who look to get offended everyday. A lot of people comment as well without knowing all the facts. FB is a cesspool for those people. For me though, I would have liked to seen the record beaten by a native fish, but hey, it's still a record and quite an accomplishment in it's own right. Kudos to all involved. top_dollar Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 As a non native fish, he should have slit its gills and left it up on the bank to rot. That's what i was told to do when i caught an invasive fish. Actually...If i caught a state record, 1st.) Id change my underwear. 2.) Id get ahold of the conservation department. 3.) I would not be concerned with the welfare of the fish. In all seriousness....It is ironic to me that the same folks willing to drag a 40# trout around taneycomo all day on 4# line until it dies of exhaustion, are the same folks who will pitch a tantrum about someone killing a 15 inch spotted bass on table rock for a fish fry. Personally....I'd happily do both, but have only had the opportunity to do that latter. I totally agree that " Social Media can be a cesspool of hate, unfounded judgements and really stupid remarks " but dont exclude OAF from social media. ollie 1
fishinwrench Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Avoiding social media in order to shield yourself from the TRUE AUTHENTIC thoughts of the people that surround you, is a guaranteed way to live stupidly. If you can't handle reality then you just might belong in a mental institution, because eventually you're gonna get some news that will break you bad. Seth 1
